The window is measured in hours, not days
Perplexity states its refund policy in hours. Read from its help centre on 1 September 2026: outside the exceptions below, a monthly Pro plan is refundable "up to 24 hours" after the purchase date, and an annual plan gets a "full refund within 72 hours" of the original purchase date and time. The next line is the one to remember: "No exceptions for requests after this period."
The regional rows are Perplexity's own wording: 14 days in the EU, UK and Turkey on monthly or annual, 7 days in South Korea and Brazil on either. Perplexity asks you to say in the request that you are in the EU, UK or Turkey, and naming South Korea or Brazil the same way costs nothing.
A renewal does not reopen the window. Perplexity's wording is "the original purchase date and time", so an annual plan that renews on the anniversary is past its 72 hours the moment it charges. For the wider comparison of who honours what, getting a refund on an AI subscription covers OpenAI, Anthropic and Google alongside this.
The refund is offered when you cancel, not somewhere else
Perplexity attaches the refund to the cancellation itself. Its documented web path: go to perplexity.ai/pro, choose Manage Subscription, then Cancel Plan. In its words, "The option to request a refund will be available along with confirmation of cancellation."
The same control reaches from Settings: profile icon, Account, the Your Subscription row, Manage Plan, then Cancel Subscription. On a free account that row instead reads "Unlock the most powerful search experience with Perplexity Pro" with an Upgrade plan button, which is how you can tell which account you are signed into before you start.
So the procedure on a monthly plan bought yesterday is short: cancel, take the refund option the confirmation offers, done. The procedure on a plan bought last week is a request Perplexity has already said it will refuse, unless one of the five regional exceptions applies.
If cancelling is the whole goal and the window has passed, how to cancel Perplexity Pro covers the rest, including the reactivation path if you change your mind.
Three billers, and the store paths Perplexity documents
Perplexity documents different refund routes for each place the subscription can be bought, and one of them is Perplexity itself even though Google took the money.
| Where you subscribed | Who charged you | Where to ask | What Perplexity says |
|---|---|---|---|
| perplexity.ai on the web | Perplexity via Stripe | Manage Subscription, Cancel Plan, then the refund option | Windows above apply |
| Perplexity for iOS | Apple | reportaproblem.apple.com, digital purchase history, Request a refund | Apple decides |
| Perplexity for Android | Google Play, refund issued by Perplexity | Email Perplexity with the Play email and GPA number | Perplexity reviews it |
| Galaxy Store | Samsung | Galaxy Store, Menu, My page, Purchase history, Refund or Report problem | Typically within about 48 hours of purchase |
The Android row is the one people get wrong. Google took the money, but Perplexity states that Play purchases are refunded by Perplexity on request, with the Google Play email and the GPA order number, so the request goes to Perplexity and not to Google.
One trap sits upstream of all of this. Perplexity's billing FAQ warns not to update payment details through the App Store or Google Play, because "Doing so will create a new, separate subscription and you will be charged." A second subscription created that way is a second charge to unwind. How to remove your card from Perplexity covers the card side.
Three rules that end a refund before it starts
- One refund per customer. Perplexity states it "can't process secondary refund requests after a first one has been granted." Subscribe, refund, resubscribe, refund again is closed off.
- No refund after a Terms of Use termination. An account Perplexity closes for breaching its terms forfeits the paid period.
- Deleting the account does not cancel. Perplexity's cancellation article answers the question directly: "No, deleting your account will not terminate your subscription." The delete control, labelled Learn more in Settings, opens a Confirm Account Deletion dialog rather than an article, and confirming it leaves the billing running. How to delete your Perplexity account has the order to do it in.
Two smaller points from the same help centre. Trial and promotional redemptions need a valid card, and an existing user prompted for one has 7 days to add it before the account drops to free, with "any missed days" not added back. And there is no pause: "subscription pausing isn't available", so a month off is a cancellation and a new purchase.
If the reason is that a month of search is not a month of your work
The common story behind a Perplexity refund is a subscription bought for one research project. The cited search is what people buy it for, and a free account still answers occasional questions. What a monthly plan struggles to justify is the months in between.
If you keep Perplexity for search and pay for writing or code elsewhere, that is two subscriptions for two half used products. Whizi carries Perplexity's own Sonar Pro row at 20 credits a message on its Pro plan, next to GPT, Claude Sonnet, Gemini and Grok, for $29.99 a month or $19.99 billed yearly. The honest loss is the Perplexity interface itself: its cited search layout stays with Perplexity, and Whizi vs Perplexity Pro is the comparison that says where each wins.
- Count the hours since purchase: 24 on monthly, 72 on annual, unless a regional exception applies
- Cancel from perplexity.ai/pro, Manage Subscription, Cancel Plan, and take the refund option on the confirmation
- State your region in the request if you are in the EU, UK, Turkey, South Korea or Brazil
- Send Google Play refunds to Perplexity with the Play email and GPA order number, not to Google
- Never update the card through a store, and never delete the account before cancelling
Frequently asked questions
How long do I have to get a refund on Perplexity Pro?
Outside the EU, UK, Turkey, South Korea and Brazil: 24 hours after a monthly purchase and 72 hours after an annual one, with no exceptions after that. The EU, UK and Turkey get 14 days on either plan, and South Korea and Brazil get 7 days. The window runs from the original purchase, not from a renewal.
Where do I request a Perplexity refund?
On the web, go to perplexity.ai/pro, choose Manage Subscription, then Cancel Plan; the refund option is shown with the cancellation confirmation. Apple purchases go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play purchases are refunded by Perplexity itself when you email the Play email address and the GPA order number.
Can I get a Perplexity refund on an annual plan?
Yes, within 72 hours of the original purchase date and time for a full refund, or within 14 days in the EU, UK and Turkey and 7 days in South Korea and Brazil. After that Perplexity states it makes no exceptions, and a renewal does not restart the clock.
Does deleting my Perplexity account get me a refund?
No, and it does not even stop the billing. Perplexity states that deleting your account will not terminate your subscription. Cancel first, take the refund option if you are inside the window, and only then delete.
Can I get a second refund from Perplexity?
No. Perplexity states it cannot process secondary refund requests after a first one has been granted, so the refund is a one time exception per customer.
