Which of these 7 causes matches what you see?
xAI's Grok FAQ answers this problem in four separate entries, and two of them come down to which login you used. We read it on 2 November 2026, with xAI's X Subscription docs and X's own help center. Each row below follows one of those pages.
| What you see | The likely cause | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| Paid on grok.com, the app shows no plan, or the other way round | You're signed in with a different login from the one that paid | Sign in with the same Apple, Google, X or email login everywhere |
| You signed up with Apple, and grok.com shows no plan | The plan sits on an Apple Hide My Email address | Choose Sign in with Apple, not the relay address by email or Google |
| The app says the plan is active but keeps showing activate or upgrade prompts | The app holds an old plan state | Log out, clear the cache, update, then restart or reinstall the app |
| You pay X $8 a month and Grok has no SuperGrok features | X Premium raises Grok limits but doesn't include SuperGrok | SuperGrok access comes with X Premium+, or a plan from xAI |
| You pay X Premium+ and grok.com still shows free Grok | Your Grok account isn't linked to that X account | On grok.com, open Settings, then Account, and click Connect your X Account |
| You switched to The X Subscription and the old billing page looks wrong | Switched plans are managed on a new dashboard | Open grok.com/dashboard/billing and read the Current plan card |
| The plan is active, but video, Imagine or another paid feature stopped | The weekly usage pool ran out | Settings, then Usage, shows the reset date. Free Chat and Voice still work |
Don't buy a second plan to test the first one. xAI's FAQ calls a plan that doesn't appear on another device "a common mix-up, not necessarily a double charge." A second purchase on the wrong login does create one.
What changed for SuperGrok on 12 October 2026?
xAI launched The X Subscription on 12 October 2026, and its pricing docs say "New self-serve customers choose from The X Subscription plans." Apple's US store still sells SuperGrok, so a new iPhone buyer can still land on the old plan. xAI's announcement says "The X Subscription is available to new customers starting today." It's one plan for Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium. Premium, at $30 a month, carries "The benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+."
If you already paid for SuperGrok, nothing moved unless you switched. xAI's pricing docs say "Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium plans continue. Switching is optional." A legacy plan still lives under Settings, then Billing, on grok.com.
A switched plan lives somewhere else. xAI's management page puts "Your plan, payment details, invoices, and prepaid credit" on the Billing & invoices page at grok.com/dashboard/billing. Your tier shows on the Current plan card. And a switch is final: xAI's switching page says "A completed switch is permanent and cannot be undone by Support."
Which login did you pay for SuperGrok with?
Your SuperGrok plan belongs to the exact account that bought it. The FAQ puts it plainly: "Your subscription is tied to the account you bought it with, so it may not appear if you're signed in with a different login." Grok offers several sign in buttons, and each one can open a separate account.
Apple sign ins add a trap. If you chose Hide My Email when you signed up, your account sits on a relay address. xAI says "you must sign in with Apple (not with the relay email via Google/email) for it to be recognized." Typing that relay address into the email field won't find the plan.
Signing in doesn't merge anything, either. xAI's sign in page says "Signing in only authenticates you. It does not link or combine accounts, switch your plan, or cancel a subscription." If you can't find your plan or history, it says "You may be signed in to a different account." Sign out and try the method you used before.
You can add or change a sign in email at accounts.x.ai. An Apple plan is the exception: xAI says the login is tied to your Apple ID, so that email is managed through Apple.
Why does Grok keep asking you to upgrade after paying?
A paid plan shouldn't show upgrade prompts at all, and xAI says so: "If you're on an active subscription, those prompts shouldn't appear." Its fix is to restart or reinstall the app, log out and clear the cache. Update the app too. Then check that the plan shows as active in the app and in your store's Subscriptions list. On the web, the FAQ says trying Chrome or Edge in an incognito window "helps isolate browser-specific failures." If the Manage Subscription button won't open the billing portal, it names "an ad-blocker or another app/extension" as the usual cause.
An App Store plan belongs to Apple and to the Grok login you used then. Apple's US listing for Grok still sells SuperGrok at $30 a month or $300 a year as of 2 November 2026, next to SuperGrok Lite at $10, Plus at $100 and Heavy at $300. On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. If Grok isn't active there, Apple isn't billing that Apple ID for it.
Google Play plans work the same way. Open your subscriptions in Google Play, signed in to the Google Account that paid. If you switch to The X Subscription later, xAI says to check Google Play afterwards, and "If it's still set to renew, cancel it there."
Is SuperGrok paused because the weekly pool ran out?
Sometimes a working plan just looks broken. Since a June 2026 rollout, xAI meters paid Grok with one weekly usage pool that you spend "across any Grok product." The FAQ says "When your weekly usage limit is met, paid features will pause until your weekly limit resets." Free Chat and Voice limits keep going on their own clock. If Grok shows an error message instead, our guide to Grok not working covers outages.
Open Settings, then Usage, on the web or in the app. It shows the percentage used, a breakdown by product and your reset date and time. If the bar is full, your plan is fine. Grok usage limit reached explains each meter, and SuperGrok limits has the numbers xAI prints. Extra Usage Credits start at $5 on the web, and xAI says they cost more per action than the plan's own pool.
How do you reach xAI support about a SuperGrok payment?
Use Report an issue in Grok, or reply to your receipt email. Both routes come from the Getting Help section of the FAQ. xAI asks for five things: your account email, the platform, your browser or OS, the invoice or receipt number, and a screenshot or a share link.
If the plan never turns on, the refund depends on who took the money. SpaceXSI, which runs Grok, handles grok.com and Google Play charges through xAI's refund form, signed in with the account that paid. The FAQ says approved refunds usually reach the original payment method in 5 to 10 business days. Apple refunds App Store purchases. X handles X Premium. How to get a refund for SuperGrok has each route.
If you really were charged on two platforms, xAI's FAQ says to contact support for a refund. Cancel the duplicate where you bought it. How to cancel SuperGrok shows which bill is which.
Frequently asked questions
How long does SuperGrok take to activate after payment?
xAI doesn't publish a waiting time, and its FAQ treats a missing plan as a login or app problem to fix. Check the login, reset the app and look at your store's Subscriptions list first. The one delay xAI names is linking X on The X Subscription, which it says "can take a little time."
Why does grok.com show free Grok when I pay for X Premium+?
Because grok.com doesn't know about your X plan until you link it. xAI applies Premium+ only to the account linked with your X account. Open Settings, then Account, on grok.com and click Connect your X Account. If you pay for X Premium at $8, you don't have SuperGrok at all.
Did I pay for SuperGrok twice?
Probably not. xAI's FAQ calls a plan missing on another device "a common mix-up, not necessarily a double charge." Check your card statement, Apple and Google Play for two live plans. If you find two, contact xAI support, and cancel the extra one where you bought it.
Can I get a refund if SuperGrok never activated?
Yes, you can ask, and who to ask depends on where you paid. xAI reviews grok.com and Google Play refunds through its form, Apple handles App Store ones, and X handles X Premium. Our SuperGrok refund guide covers each route.
