What is SuperGrok? xAI's $30 Grok plan, sold to new buyers as Premium since 12 October

In brief

SuperGrok is xAI's paid Grok subscription, $30 a month or $300 a year, adding a bigger weekly usage pool, Imagine video and Grok Bot to free Grok. Since 12 October 2026 xAI has stopped selling it to new customers: its $30 Premium tier now includes the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+.

What is SuperGrok, and can you still buy it?

SuperGrok is a plan, not a model. You pay for more of the same Grok that's free on grok.com, in the Grok apps and on X. On 25 October 2026 the word SuperGrok doesn't appear on xAI's pricing page at all, and the grok.com checkout keeps it only in its URL. The table puts every paid route to Grok side by side, in xAI's and X's own words, at US prices before tax, as read that day.

SuperGrok now sits inside two other plans. X's help center lists "SuperGrok access, Grok Bot, no ads anywhere" among the Premium+ benefits. xAI's own Premium is, in the words of its 12 October announcement, "The benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined." So the cheapest way to buy what SuperGrok was is the $30 Premium tier. X charges $10 more for Premium+, and it has no Cursor.

Lite is the odd one out. xAI's Grok Bot docs say some customers get Grok Bot "through a SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy subscription". Lite isn't on that list.

What happened to SuperGrok on 12 October 2026?

xAI launched The X Subscription on 12 October 2026 and closed SuperGrok to new customers that day. The announcement says "The X Subscription is available to new customers starting today." xAI's pricing docs put it more plainly: "New self-serve customers choose from The X Subscription plans." It's one plan for Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium, with four paid tiers. Plus costs $8, Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200.

Each date is from an xAI post. On 22 July 2026 xAI said "Grok 4.5 now powers Grok wherever you use it, live today on grok.com, on X, and in the Grok apps for iOS and Android." Grok 4.6 (12 August) and Grok 4.7 (21 September) launched in Cursor, Grok Build and the API, and neither post names SuperGrok. Grok Bot arrived on 11 August. On 26 August xAI said "Grok Bot is now included with all SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and Cursor Teams plans."

If you already pay for SuperGrok, nothing changes unless you act. xAI's pricing docs say "Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium plans continue. Switching is optional." Switching can't be reversed, though. xAI's switching page says "A completed switch is permanent and cannot be undone by Support."

What does SuperGrok include over free Grok?

SuperGrok includes a bigger share of one weekly usage pool, Imagine video and Grok Bot. The model isn't what you pay for. xAI's Grok FAQ describes "one shared weekly usage pool that you can spend however you like across any Grok product." Free Grok runs on its own limits, which xAI's pricing page words only as "Limited Chat requests" and "Limited agent requests".

SuperGrok makes 720p video clips. xAI prints one numbered rule about them in the FAQ: "720p videos automatically fall back to 480p once you hit the 720p cap for your tier." 1080p started a tier up. xAI's pricing page, as archived on 10 October 2026, listed "Create 1080p videos" under SuperGrok Plus at $100. SuperGrok vs SuperGrok Heavy lays out the old tiers row by row.

Grok Bot works differently on the two plan lines. On SuperGrok it has its own meter: xAI's 26 August post says "Grok Bot comes with its own usage, separate from your Grok and Cursor plans." On The X Subscription it doesn't. The Grok Bot docs say "Under The X Subscription, Grok Bot usage draws from the weekly shared pool across Grok, Grok Bot, and Cursor." So a SuperGrok subscriber who leans on Grok Bot keeps more of the chat pool by not switching.

Companions are the one feature tied to a device. xAI's FAQ says "Companions are available on the iOS app only, and there are no plans to bring them to the web or Android." Is SuperGrok worth it weighs each of these features against the $30.

What is the SuperGrok weekly limit?

The SuperGrok weekly limit has no published number. xAI shows it as a percentage of one pool, and the FAQ says "The usage pool limit resets every week on a schedule shown in the Usage tab in Settings." The same page says the pool "is shown as a percentage used and will be broken down by product." It started "Rolling out in June 2026".

Running dry doesn't lock you out, but xAI's own sources disagree on where you top up. Apple's US listing sells Extra Usage Credits as in-app purchases at $5, $20, $50 and $100. xAI's FAQ says they "can currently only be purchased on the web" and that "In-app purchases on mobile will be available in the future." We didn't buy any to settle it, so the web Usage tab is the route xAI vouches for. The FAQ also says credits are "priced at standard rates", so each action costs more than it did inside the plan. SuperGrok limits has every number xAI prints and the daily counts other guides report, and Grok usage limit reached covers what to do at the wall.

Is SuperGrok the same as X Premium or Premium+?

No. X Premium at $8 gives you "increased usage limits on Grok" and no SuperGrok. X Premium+ at $40 includes SuperGrok access. Those are X's own words and prices on its help center, read on 25 October 2026, with Basic at $3 below both. Premium+ costs $395 a year, $95 more than SuperGrok's $300.

Premium+ ties SuperGrok to one account. xAI's FAQ says "X Premium+ access only applies to the account linked with your X account," so link the Grok login you use to the X account that pays. Refunds split the same way. The FAQ says "If you have subscribed to X Premium, X (not SpaceXSI) would be responsible for processing refund where required by law." SpaceXSI is the name the FAQ now gives the company that handles Grok refunds. xAI joined SpaceX on 2 February 2026.

Paying both is easy to do by mistake. A SuperGrok plan on grok.com and Premium+ on X bill separately, and neither cancels the other. How to cancel SuperGrok shows which bill is which, and how to get a refund for SuperGrok covers each biller's form.

What are SuperGrok Lite, Plus and Heavy?

SuperGrok Lite, Plus and Heavy are the other three tiers of the old line, at $10, $100 and $300 a month in the US App Store on 25 October 2026. Lite was the cheap entry, with no Grok Bot. Plus added 1080p video, by that archived pricing page. Heavy dates from the Grok 4 launch: xAI's Grok 4 post of 9 July 2025 said "We are also introducing a new SuperGrok Heavy tier with access to Grok 4 Heavy - the most powerful version of Grok 4."

Heavy's yearly bill catches people out. xAI's FAQ says "Large unexpected invoices are often a SuperGrok Heavy yearly subscription, not API usage." The $300 Heavy and the $100 Plus are closed to new buyers on grok.com too, and Ultra at $200 is now the top tier. Local prices in 55 App Store countries, from $26.35 in Turkey to $41.70 in Norway for SuperGrok, are in SuperGrok price by country.

Where can you buy SuperGrok now?

You can't buy SuperGrok by that name on grok.com any more. The checkout at grok.com/supergrok sells Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra, with 50% off the first month on the top three, so Premium starts at $15. That's where xAI sends a new buyer.

The iPhone app is the one place the old names survive. Apple's US listing, sold by X Corp. and rated 4.9 from 1.5M ratings, lists SuperGrok at $30 and $300, SuperGrok Lite at $10, SuperGrok Plus at $100 and SuperGrok Heavy at $300. Its banner promotes the new bundle: "One subscription for the entire ecosystem: Grok, Cursor, Grok Bot, and X in one plan with more benefits and features." We can't see from outside the app which plan its paywall offers a new account. Open it and check before you tap.

An App Store plan belongs to Apple. xAI's FAQ says "Apple handles all refunds for purchases made through the App Store." On X, Premium+ is still on sale at $40 with SuperGrok access.

Should you buy Premium, X Premium+ or neither?

Buy Premium at $30 if you want what SuperGrok gave you. It costs the same, carries Grok Bot and video, and adds Cursor and X Premium+ benefits on top. Pick X Premium+ only if you already pay X and don't want a second biller. Stay on free Grok if you only chat. SuperGrok vs ChatGPT Plus sets the $30 tier against OpenAI's $20 one.

For Grok's text answers alone, Whizi Pro at $29.99 carries Grok 4.6 and Grok 4.7 at 6 credits a message from 2,500 credits, which is 416 Grok messages a month, beside Claude, GPT and Gemini (Grok in Whizi). Whizi loses on everything around the chat. It has no Imagine video, no Grok Bot and no live X feed, and every plan stops at 60 messages an hour.

Workflow checklist
  • Check which plan you pay for in grok.com Settings, Billing: SuperGrok keeps working at its old price unless you switch
  • New to paid Grok: buy Premium at $30, the tier xAI says carries SuperGrok's benefits, at $15 for the first month
  • Pay X Premium+? Link your Grok login to that X account, or SuperGrok access won't apply
  • Lean on Grok Bot? Remember it has its own meter on SuperGrok and shares the weekly pool on The X Subscription
  • Switch only when sure: xAI says a completed switch cannot be undone
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is SuperGrok the same as Grok?

No. Grok is xAI's assistant, free on grok.com, in the Grok apps and on X, and SuperGrok is the $30 a month plan that raised its limits and added video and Grok Bot. xAI's 22 July 2026 post put Grok 4.5 on every surface with no plan named, so the plan buys usage, not a different model.

Is SuperGrok still available?

Yes for people who already pay, and no for new buyers on grok.com, as of 25 October 2026. xAI's docs say "Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium plans continue. Switching is optional." New customers get The X Subscription, where Premium at $30 is SuperGrok's match. The iPhone app still lists SuperGrok items in the App Store.

Is SuperGrok included with X Premium?

Only with X Premium+. X's help center lists SuperGrok access among the Premium+ benefits at $40 a month or $395 a year, while X Premium at $8 gives "increased usage limits on Grok" and no SuperGrok. xAI's own Premium at $30 also includes X Premium+ benefits.

How much is SuperGrok?

SuperGrok is $30 a month or $300 a year in the US, before tax, as of October 2026. Its App Store price ran from $26.35 in Turkey to $41.70 in Norway on 12 October 2026, and SuperGrok price by country has all 55 stores.
