SuperGrok vs SuperGrok Heavy: $30 against $300, and the top plan is now Ultra at $200

In brief

SuperGrok costs $30 a month and SuperGrok Heavy costs $300, ten times more, for the largest usage pool, the multi agent Heavy mode and, per third-party reads, X Premium+. Since 12 October 2026 new customers can buy neither. The X Subscription replaced them: Premium at $30, and Ultra at $200 with 12.5 times Premium's usage for 6.7 times the price.

What is the difference between SuperGrok and SuperGrok Heavy?

The $270 gap bought you three things. Heavy had the biggest share of xAI's weekly usage pool. It had Heavy mode, which the grok.com mode menu still called "Team of Experts" on Grok 4.7 on 7 October 2026, and it came with X Premium+, though that is only what two third parties, Krater and FamilyPro, say. xAI's own pricing page listed SuperGrok and Heavy on 10 October. By 13 October it showed only the new tiers, and the top one, Ultra, costs $200.

The top Grok plan fell from $300 to $200. The $30 plan stayed at $30

Ultra is the cheaper top plan, and it prints a number that Heavy never did. xAI's pricing docs give Premium 4 times the usage of the $8 Plus plan, and Ultra 50 times. So Ultra buys 12.5 times Premium's pool for 6.7 times the price. That's 1.9 times as much usage per dollar. Heavy had no multiple at all, so nobody outside of xAI can say how much Grok it was that the $300 bought.

The three old plans as xAI last sold them, and the three new plans that took their place, in US list prices before tax, as of October 2026:

xAI's own pricing page as archived on 10 October 2026 prints SuperGrok at $30 and SuperGrok Plus at $100 with "Create 1080p videos". It names Heavy in its grid but prints no price for it. The $300 is the price xAI launched Heavy at in July 2025, and grok.com's own page code still carried a $300 Heavy product on 7 October 2026. The yearly prices and the lines on what Heavy added come from a table that Krater read on 3 October 2026, and from a review that FamilyPro wrote on 20 September 2026. The three new rows are from xAI's pricing page and the grok.com checkout, which we read on 18 October 2026. That checkout takes 50% off the first month of Premium, Super and Ultra. So Ultra's first month is $100.

Can you still buy SuperGrok Heavy?

No. New customers can't buy SuperGrok Heavy or SuperGrok as of October 2026. xAI's pricing docs say "New self-serve customers choose from The X Subscription plans," and the grok.com checkout sells only Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra. xAI's announcement of 12 October 2026 says "The X Subscription is available to new customers starting today." It doesn't name a successor for Heavy. Its promise covers comparable tiers only: "Each comparable new tier provides more usage-per-dollar than the plan it replaces."

Premium is the clear match for SuperGrok. It costs the same $30, and xAI lists it with "The benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined." Heavy has no twin. Ultra's lines on the checkout don't mention Heavy mode or agents. They promise "Most powerful Chat models", "Earliest access to all products & models" and "Fastest responses & generations". Fello AI's guide, updated 14 October 2026, warns readers not to assume Ultra is Heavy under a new name. It also says that SuperGrok Lite, which it puts at $10, was taken off the page at the same time as the others.

If you already pay for Heavy, nothing happens unless you act. xAI's pricing docs say "Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium plans continue unless you change or cancel them." Your plan keeps its price. It keeps all of its features too.

What are the SuperGrok vs SuperGrok Heavy usage limits?

xAI published no message, image or video count for SuperGrok or for SuperGrok Heavy. Both spend one weekly pool that shows as a percentage. xAI's Grok FAQ dates it: "Rolling out in June 2026, Grok will now use a simpler, more flexible system for paid users." Heavy's pool was bigger. By how much, xAI never said, and it still hasn't.

Heavy isn't unlimited, either. The FAQ's one numbered rule covers every tier: "720p videos automatically fall back to 480p once you hit the 720p cap for your tier." The nearest thing to a SuperGrok vs Heavy count is secondhand. Atlas Cloud wrote on 12 June 2026 that a May 2026 support email set Heavy at more than 80 videos per 12 hours, and SuperGrok at more than 20 per 24 hours. That's about 8 times as many a day on Heavy. Atlas Cloud sells API access to xAI models, and it didn't publish the email.

Don't trust the message counts on Jin Grey's SuperGrok vs SuperGrok Heavy guide, which ranks for this query. Dated 4 June 2026, it puts Heavy at $100 a month and SuperGrok on Grok 2. xAI launched Heavy at $300 in July 2025, beside Grok 4 Heavy, and its own pages print no message counts at all. SuperGrok limits sets out every number xAI does print.

Do you need SuperGrok Heavy for Imagine video?

No. 1080p video started on SuperGrok Plus at $100, a third of Heavy's price, and Heavy simply included it. SuperGrok made 720p clips of up to 30 seconds. The new plans put the line in the same place. Super at $100 says "Create 1080p videos", and Premium at $30 says "Make stunning AI images & videos". Ultra adds no video line of its own.

Video spends the same weekly pool as chat, so it's what drains a plan first. xAI's FAQ says "A chat message uses little compute; generating a high-quality video or running a long coding task uses far more." A bigger tier gives you more clips before you hit the 480p fallback. Check the Usage tab in Settings, and it will show you which of the products took your week.

Should you keep SuperGrok Heavy or switch to Ultra?

Switch to Ultra unless you use Heavy mode, because Ultra costs $100 less a month and $1,000 less a year, $2,000 against the $3,000 that Krater, a third party, reports for Heavy. Keep Heavy if your work runs on Heavy mode, since Ultra's checkout doesn't list it. The switch is one way. xAI's switching page says "A completed switch is permanent and cannot be undone by Support."

xAI refunds the old plan when you switch. Its refund docs say the refund is "based on the time left in the billing period". It goes back to the card you paid with, not into credit on the new plan, and yearly plans get the same treatment. If you bought Heavy through Apple, xAI cancels it and asks Apple to refund the unused time. Apple decides the amount.

On the $30 SuperGrok the choice is easier. Premium costs the same, gives 4 times the Plus pool, and adds Cursor and X's ad free scrolling. Stay on SuperGrok if you don't want X or Cursor, and if the plan you have already does what you need it to do.

Which Grok plan should you pick instead of SuperGrok or Heavy?

Pick Premium at $30 for Grok Bot and video, Super at $100 for 1080p, and Ultra at $200 only when Super runs dry. Each row below has the price and the line from xAI's own pages, read on 18 October 2026.

Only want a multi agent Grok answerThe xAI APIgrok-4.20-multi-agent at $1.25 in and $2.50 out per 1M tokens

Is there a cheaper way to get a multi agent Grok?

Yes. xAI sells its multi agent model by the token. Its API pricing lists grok-4.20-multi-agent at $1.25 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output, with a 1M token context, as of October 2026. It's from the Grok 4.20 generation. That's older than the Grok 4.6 and 4.7 that sit at the top of the same price list.

Whizi, which publishes this page, carries Grok 4.20 Multi-Agent on Powerhouse at $49.99 a month. It costs 4 credits a message from a 10,000 credit month, so that's 2,500 messages, and Grok in Whizi prints the 4 credit price. Pro at $29.99 has Grok 4.6 and Grok 4.7 at 6 credits, or 416 messages. Whizi loses on all of the things around the chat. There's no Grok Imagine, there's no Grok Bot and there's no live X feed, and every Whizi plan stops you at 60 messages an hour.

Workflow checklist
  • Check which plan you pay for: SuperGrok and Heavy still bill existing subscribers at $30 and $300
  • Compare the new tiers by multiple: Premium 4x, Super 15x and Ultra 50x the $8 Plus pool
  • Buy Super at $100, not Ultra, if 1080p video is the only reason to move up
  • Keep Heavy if you use Heavy mode every week, because Ultra's checkout does not list it
  • Switch only when you are sure, since xAI cannot undo a completed switch
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How much is SuperGrok Heavy?

SuperGrok Heavy is $300 a month for people who already have it, or $3,000 a year if you go by what a third party, Krater, says, and it isn't sold to new customers as of October 2026. The top plan you can buy now is Ultra, at $200 a month or $2,000 a year. xAI's FAQ warns that "Large unexpected invoices are often a SuperGrok Heavy yearly subscription, not API usage." How to get a refund for SuperGrok covers that charge.

Is SuperGrok Heavy unlimited?

No. SuperGrok Heavy draws on a weekly usage pool like every paid Grok plan, and xAI's FAQ says 720p video drops to 480p "once you hit the 720p cap for your tier." Heavy had the largest pool xAI sold, but xAI never put a number on it. AI usage limits compared sets Grok's pool beside the other chatbots' caps.

Does SuperGrok Heavy include X Premium+?

Yes. SuperGrok Heavy included X Premium+, according to Krater's and FamilyPro's reads of xAI's plan pages in September and October 2026. On The X Subscription, Premium at $30 already lists "The benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+". If you pay X and xAI separately, how to cancel SuperGrok shows which bill is which.

Is SuperGrok Heavy worth it?

SuperGrok Heavy is worth keeping only if you use Heavy mode every week, because Ultra prints a 50x Plus pool for $100 less a month. For 1080p video, Super at $100 is enough. For Grok Bot, Premium at $30 has it. Is SuperGrok worth it weighs the $30 tier against free Grok.
