Which is better, Perplexity Pro or Google AI Pro?
Google AI Pro is better if Gemini is the model you want, and Perplexity Pro is better if you want search with citations and a choice of labs. Perplexity's model page, a snapshot "as of October 17, 2026", gives Pro seven search models from seven labs. Its one Gemini is a Flash model. Gemini 4 Argon is marked Max only. Google's US subscriptions page lists "Access to Gemini 4 Argon" on AI Pro at $19.99 a month.
The scores are the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, read on 25 October 2026, at the highest effort it lists for each model (high for the two Gemini models, max for the others). The chart cuts both ways. Perplexity Pro's Gemini trails Google's by 12 points, but its Claude Sonnet scores 56, three points above Argon. So Perplexity Pro isn't the weaker plan for model quality. It's the weaker plan for Gemini.

Does Perplexity Pro include Gemini Pro?
No, Perplexity Pro has no Gemini Pro model as of 17 October 2026. Its one Gemini is Flash. Gemini 4 Argon sits in the Max column, and the Max help page prices Max at "$200/monthly or $2000/annually". So Argon costs ten times as much on Perplexity as on Google.
Google is closing the cheaper door too. Google told Google AI Plus subscribers by email that "Starting on 13 November 2026, the ability to select Pro models in both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search will only be available to Google AI Pro subscribers and above," as 9to5Google reported on 14 October. Plus keeps "our latest Flash-Lite model and Flash". Google's US page still says AI Plus "Includes Gemini 4 Argon", in a footnote tied to AI Mode in Search, so check it after the 13th. Going by the email, $19.99 is then the lowest price for a Gemini Pro model on either company's plans. Google AI Plus vs Google AI Pro covers the rest of that change.
Perplexity adds its own caveat about every outside model. It says it "integrates these models with its own search, citations, tools, prompts, safety systems, and usage limits," so "a model in Perplexity can behave differently from the same model in the provider's standalone product." Even the Argon on Max is Argon with Perplexity's prompt in front of it.
How do Perplexity Pro and Google AI Pro limits compare?
Neither plan publishes a message count, and Google's is the one you can reason about. Google's limits page gives AI Pro "4x higher than standard limits" and says "Your limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit." It adds that limits "factor in the complexity of your prompt, the models and features you use, and the length of your chat." When you run out, Gemini lets you keep going on Flash-Lite.
Perplexity's plan table prints numbers for Free (3 Pro Searches a day, 1 Research query a month) and for Enterprise Pro (400 searches a week). For Pro it says only "Weekly limits (average use)" and "Monthly limits (average use)". Its Pro page promises "a high volume of daily searches" and warns access to advanced models "may be limited during weeks of especially heavy usage." Perplexity Pro limits shows what the counters report in practice.
The window is the gap you'll feel. Google gives AI Pro 1 million tokens, against 32K if you don't have a plan. Perplexity doesn't publish one at all. If you paste in a long contract or a code base, it's the window that decides it for you.
Is Perplexity Pro or Gemini better for research?
Perplexity Pro is better for quick research you have to cite, and Google AI Pro is better for long reports built from your own files. Perplexity searches on every query and gives Pro "10x as many citations per answer" over the free plan. You can rerun one question on GPT, Claude or Grok without leaving the thread. That cross check is the thing Google can't offer, because every answer in the Gemini app is a Gemini answer.
Google's answer is Deep Research and Gemini Notebook. Its limits page rates Deep Research "High" for usage cost and says "Some features (like media generation or Deep Research) will consume more of your usage." So a Deep Research run spends the same 4x pool as your chats. Perplexity keeps Research in its own monthly pool. Gemini Notebook, the tool Google used to call NotebookLM, gets "5x more Audio Overviews, notebooks, and more" on AI Pro, per Google's subscriptions page. Pair it with the 1M window and Google reads more of your material at once.
Which is better for coding, Perplexity Pro or Google AI Pro?
Google AI Pro is better for coding, because it comes with coding agents and Perplexity Pro doesn't. Google lists "Entry rate limits to agent model in Google Antigravity" and "Higher limits" in Jules, its asynchronous coding agent, on AI Pro. Perplexity Pro has two strong coding models in its picker, GPT Sol and Claude Sonnet. They answer a stack trace well. They don't work in your repository.
Perplexity's agent is Computer, which runs on credits. Its pricing page gives Pro "4,000 bonus credits" and Max 35,000 bonus credits plus 10,000 a month. That's for building documents and small apps, not a day of commits.
What else do you get for $19.99 on Google AI Pro?
Google AI Pro bundles far more outside the chat box than Perplexity Pro does. Google's subscriptions page lists 5 TB of storage across Gmail, Drive and Photos, Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, YouTube Premium Lite, Google Home Premium on the Standard plan, Chrome auto browse and 1,000 Google Flow credits for video. Google's AI plans page adds "Family sharing with up to five others."
What Perplexity gives you on top is all about search. You get Comet Assistant tasks on a monthly allowance, and you can make images, a "limited" amount of video, and files and apps with the Computer credits it hands you. If you already pay Google for 2 TB or more, AI Pro's real price is lower than $19.99. If you don't use Google's apps, most of that list is wasted on you. Google AI Pro vs ChatGPT Plus prices the Flow credits in video clips.
Can you get a refund on Perplexity Pro or Google AI Pro?
Perplexity Pro has a short refund window, and Google AI Pro mostly has none. Perplexity's refund page gives "up to 24 hours after the purchase date" on monthly Pro and a full refund "within 72 hours" on annual, or 14 days in the EU, UK and Turkey. It allows one refund per customer.
Google sells AI Pro through Google One, and its refund page says "In most countries or regions, Google storage plan purchases are non-refundable." Israel is the named exception. If you cancel, Google says the storage "is yours for the length of the subscription". How to get a refund for Google AI Pro covers the store routes.
Should you pay for both, or one plan with both kinds of model?
Pay for both if you live in Google's apps and research on the web every day. Perplexity Pro plus Google AI Pro is $39.99 a month in the US. That gets you Argon in Gmail and Docs, 5 TB, and Perplexity's cited search with Claude and GPT on top.
| If you want to | Pick | Why, as of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Use Gemini 4 Argon | Google AI Pro | Max only on Perplexity, at $200 |
| Check a fact with sources | Perplexity Pro | It searches every query, with citations |
| Compare GPT, Claude and Gemini on one question | Perplexity Pro | Seven labs in one picker |
| Read a long file whole | Google AI Pro | 1M tokens, against no published window |
| Write code with an agent | Google AI Pro | Antigravity and Jules on the plan |
| Store photos and files | Google AI Pro | 5 TB included |
| Get your money back if it's wrong | Perplexity Pro | 24 or 72 hours, against non-refundable |
Whizi is a third route, and it's our product, so read this paragraph with that in mind. Whizi Pro costs $29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, with a first week for $1.99. It carries Gemini Pro, Gemini Flash, Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet, GPT and Perplexity's own Sonar Pro in one picker, with web search on by default, and you can run two models side by side on one prompt. Credits per message vary by model and can change. Whizi loses to Google on the bundle: no storage, no Flow credits and no Gemini in Gmail. It loses to Perplexity on Comet and Computer. The Gemini in Whizi docs list each model's credit cost.
Frequently asked questions
Is Perplexity Pro better than Gemini Pro?
For cited web search and a choice of labs, yes: Perplexity Pro searches every query and carries GPT, Claude and Grok. For Gemini itself, no. Perplexity Pro's only Gemini is Flash, while Google AI Pro includes Gemini 4 Argon and Gemini Pro with a 1M token window. Google AI Pro limits lists every cap on Google's side.
Does Perplexity Pro include Gemini 4 Argon?
No. Perplexity's model list, dated 17 October 2026, marks Gemini 4 Argon as Max only, and Max costs $200 a month. Perplexity Pro's one Gemini is Gemini Flash. Google AI Pro includes Argon at $19.99 a month.
Is Perplexity Pro worth it if I already pay for Google AI Pro?
It is if you research on the web every day and want to check answers against GPT or Claude, which Google's plan can't do. It isn't if your work is long files and Google's apps, where AI Pro already has the 1M window. Is Perplexity Pro worth it takes the plan on its own.
How do I leave Gemini if I switch to Perplexity?
Cancel Google AI Pro in Google One first, since the plan bills there, and Google says the storage you bought "is yours for the length of the subscription, even if you decide to cancel it." Deleting your Gemini history or account is a separate step, and how to delete your Gemini account walks through it.
