Google AI Plus vs Google AI Pro: Pro costs 4x as much, doubles the chat limit, and is the only one with Gemini Pro from 13 November

In brief

Google AI Pro is the pick if you want Gemini's Pro models, because from 13 November 2026 Google AI Plus keeps only Flash models, per Google's email to subscribers. Pro costs $19.99 a month in the US, four times the $4.99 Plus price, but only doubles the Gemini chat limit. Storage grows 12.5 times, 400 GB to 5 TB.

What is the difference between Google AI Plus and Google AI Pro?

Google AI Pro is the Gemini plan with the Pro models, a 1 million token window and 5 TB of storage, and Google AI Plus is the plan Google now sells on Flash, with 400 GB. Google charges $19.99 a month for Pro and $4.99 for Plus in the US, as of October 2026. Only three of the allowances below grow faster than the price does.

We put this table together on 18 October 2026 from five of Google's own pages: the US subscriptions page, the Google AI plans page, the Gemini Apps limits page, the Flow credits page and the Gemini Notebook upgrade page. The one number that isn't from Google is the 2 TB Plus price, which is from 9to5Google's June 2026 report. On its plans page, Google says that Plus runs on Gemini 3.6 Flash and that Pro has Gemini 4 Argon and Gemini 3.1 Pro.

Of all the gaps in the table, the one you'll feel first is the window. A long PDF or a big codebase fits in it on Pro. On Plus it gets cut off.

Does Google AI Plus still include Gemini Pro?

Google AI Plus includes Gemini Pro only until 13 November 2026. Google's email to Plus subscribers, posted on Reddit and quoted by 9to5Google on 14 October, reads: "Starting on 13 November 2026, the ability to select Pro models in both the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search will only be available to Google AI Pro subscribers and above." Plus keeps the "latest Flash-Lite model and Flash". Your old chats stay. Google's email says "Your previous chats using the Pro model can be continued with a different model."

Google's model access help page already shows where Plus ends up. It moved free accounts to Flash-Lite on 9 October 2026. In the AI Plus row of its new model table, there's a check for Flash-Lite and for Flash, but there isn't one for Pro. For the date, it says only that Plus subscribers "should receive an email that explains when these changes will take effect". That email names 13 November.

The newest model went the same way. Google's 13 October 2026 post says "Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can now access Gemini 4 Argon", and it doesn't mention Plus. Android Police wrote the same day that Argon "isn't available to Google AI Plus subscribers or free users just yet". So from 13 November, AI Pro at $19.99 will be the cheapest Google plan with any Gemini model above Flash.

How much do Google AI Plus and Pro cost in each country?

Google AI Pro costs about four times Google AI Plus wherever we checked, from 3.9x in Canada to 4.9x in India. We read each country's version of Google's subscriptions page on 18 October 2026. Every price is the monthly list price in local currency.

Market, read 18 October 2026Google AI PlusGoogle AI ProPro costsExtra a month for Pro
United States$4.99$19.994.0x Plus$15.00
United Kingdom£4.49£18.994.2x Plus£14.50
Germany€4.99€21.994.4x Plus€17.00
CanadaCA$6.99CA$26.993.9x PlusCA$20.00
AustraliaA$7.99A$32.994.1x PlusA$25.00
India₹399₹1,9504.9x Plus₹1,551

India is the outlier. Google prices Plus there at about a fifth of what it asks for Pro, so if you buy in India you pay the most, for what you get, to move up. A German buyer pays more for Pro than an American does, at €21.99, but the Plus price is 4.99 in both. The India, UK, Germany, Canada and Australia pages carry the local prices.

Google also sells a 2 TB version of Plus. It's the old $9.99 storage plan, which 9to5Google says now carries the AI Plus name. Google's Plus help page adds longer Meet calls and Calendar booking to that version. The Google One plans page shows an annual toggle marked "Save up to 16%". If a card keeps failing at checkout, paying for AI when your card is declined covers the usual causes.

What are the Google AI Plus vs Pro limits for chat and Deep Research?

Google AI Plus gets 2x the free Gemini limit and Google AI Pro gets 4x, and Google publishes no message count for either. Its limits page says "These limits factor in the complexity of your prompt, the models and features you use, and the length of your chat." Both plans refresh the same way: "Your limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit."

Deep Research is on both plans, and on the free tier too. It costs more of your limit than a chat does. Google says "Some features (like media generation or Deep Research) will consume more of your usage." So a Pro subscriber gets about twice the Deep Research runs of a Plus subscriber, not a separate quota. Once either plan hits its cap, Gemini lets you keep chatting on Flash-Lite.

Gemini Notebook, which is what Google now calls NotebookLM, is where Pro pulls further ahead. On its Notebook upgrade page, Google gives you 200 notebooks of 100 sources each on Plus, and 500 notebooks of 300 sources on Pro. It prints no daily chat or Audio Overview count for either plan as of 18 October 2026. It says only that Pro gets "Higher access to Gemini models". Google AI Pro limits has every cap on the plan, and Gemini usage limit reached explains which one stopped you.

Which plan is better for image and video generation?

Google AI Pro is better for video, and the two plans are close for images. Both can make video inside the Gemini app, which the free plan can't. Both can redo an image with Nano Banana Pro, and every tier gets Nano Banana 2, per Google's limits page. Google doesn't publish a daily image count for either one.

Flow credits decide video. Google's Flow credits page gives Plus 200 credits a month and Pro 1,000, on top of the 50 a day every account gets. A Veo 3.1 clip costs 10 credits on Lite, 20 on Fast and 100 on Quality. So Plus buys 20 Lite clips, 10 Fast clips or 2 Quality clips a month, and Pro buys 100, 50 or 10. Google adds that "Unused monthly Google Flow credits do not roll over to the next month."

Ten Quality clips a month is still a hobby budget. If you make video every week, Google built its Ultra plan at $99.99, with 10,000 credits, for you.

Is Google AI Plus or Pro better for coding and Antigravity?

Google AI Pro is the coding plan. Google's subscriptions page lists "Entry rate limits to agent model in Google Antigravity" on Pro and puts no Antigravity line on Plus. 9to5Google reported on 15 October 2026 that Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out in Antigravity to Pro and Ultra, with its own weekly quota.

Pro also comes with the premium tier of the Google Developer Program. On its Pro benefits page, Google lists $10 a month of Google Cloud credits, 30 Firebase Studio workspaces, more Gemini Code Assist and higher limits in Jules. You can't share any of that with your family. On Plus, it's the 128K window that stops you. A mid sized repository won't fit in it, and from 13 November the model that reads it is Flash.

What do Gmail, Docs and family sharing get on each plan?

Google AI Plus puts Gemini in Gmail, and Google AI Pro adds Docs and Sheets. Google's AI plans page says Gemini helps you "proofread in Gmail" on Plus, and "work smarter in Docs and Sheets" on Pro. The US plan card lists Vids on both. If you draft in Docs every day, that line alone makes the case for Pro.

Both plans share with up to five other people. Google says "Family plan members on a Google AI Pro plan can enjoy AI benefits and features at no extra cost," and its Plus help page says members get "select AI benefits and features". You can share the storage on both. YouTube Premium Lite comes with Pro, but it's only for the plan manager, and so is Google Colab. Google Health Premium is one you can share with the family.

Pro also adds Google Home Premium Standard, which Google describes as "30 days of event history and Gemini features". There are no extras like that on Plus.

Should you buy Google AI Plus or Google AI Pro?

Buy Google AI Plus if you want more Gemini on Flash and 400 GB of storage for $4.99, and Google AI Pro if you need the Pro models, a 1M window or Gemini in Docs. Each plan also has a clear case where it loses.

Pick Google AI Plus ifPick Google AI Pro if
You chat on Flash and hit the free limit once a week (2x for $4.99)You want Gemini 4 Argon or Gemini Pro (Pro only from 13 November 2026)
Your Drive, Gmail and Photos fit in 400 GBYou paste long files (1M tokens against 128K)
You make a few Lite clips a month (20 on Plus)You draft in Docs or Sheets with Gemini
You're in India, where Pro costs 4.9x PlusYou need more than 2 TB, since 5 TB is $19.99
Where Plus loses: no Pro models, the window cuts long files, and no DocsWhere Pro loses: 4x the price buys only 2x the chat limit

Pro's losing case is the light user. If your Gemini use is short chats and your files fit in 400 GB, $15 a month more buys you limits you won't reach. Plus loses the moment a reply needs more than Flash, because no setting on Plus brings Pro back after 13 November. Is Google AI Plus worth it and is Google AI Pro worth it take each plan on its own.

If what you want from Pro is only the Pro model, Whizi is the other route. Whizi Pro carries Gemini Pro at 10 credits a message, so its 2,500 monthly credits buy 250 Gemini Pro answers, with Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet and GPT on the same login. It costs $29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly, with a first week for $1.99. Whizi loses on everything else Google bundles: no storage, no Flow credits, no Gemini in Gmail, and no Gemini 4 Argon as of October 2026. The Gemini in Whizi docs list each model's credit cost.

Workflow checklist
  • Check whether you need Gemini Pro or Gemini 4 Argon, because Google AI Plus runs on Flash only from 13 November 2026
  • Check your storage at one.google.com: under 400 GB fits Plus, over 2 TB points to Pro at 5 TB
  • Count your long files: Plus reads 128K tokens and Pro reads 1M
  • Price your video in Flow credits: 200 a month on Plus, 1,000 on Pro, 100 per Veo 3.1 Quality clip
  • Check your local price, since Pro costs 3.9x Plus in Canada and 4.9x in India
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Google AI Pro better than Claude Pro?

For storage and Google apps, yes, and for chat alone it's a tie on price. Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month with 5 TB and Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and Claude Pro is $20 a month with no storage, per claude.com read 18 October 2026. Pick by the model you prefer for writing and code. Is Claude Pro worth it covers what the $20 buys on Anthropic's side.

Does Google AI Plus include NotebookLM?

Yes. Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook, and Plus raises its limits to 200 notebooks of 100 sources each. Pro raises them to 500 notebooks of 300 sources. The free tier stops at 100 notebooks of 50 sources, and Google prints no daily chat count for any plan as of October 2026. Google AI Pro limits lists the rest of the caps.

What is the difference between Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra?

Ultra is the volume tier above both. In the US, Plus is $4.99 with 2x the free Gemini limit, Pro is $19.99 with 4x, and Ultra is $99.99 for 5x Pro or $199.99 for 20x Pro, as of October 2026. Ultra also brings 10,000 or 25,000 Flow credits and 20 TB of storage or more. Google AI Plus price by country shows what the entry plan costs outside the US.

What happens to my files if I switch from Google AI Pro to Plus?

Your storage drops from 5 TB to 400 GB (or 2 TB on the $9.99 Plus) when the change takes effect, and nothing is deleted that day. Over the limit, Google says you can't upload to Drive or back up to Photos, sending and receiving Gmail can be impacted, and content can be removed after two years over quota. Move the surplus first. How to downgrade Google AI Pro has the steps.
