What is Google AI Pro? Gemini's $19.99 plan with 5 TB, once called Gemini Advanced

In brief

Google AI Pro is Google's $19.99 a month US plan for Gemini's paid tier, as of October 2026. It adds Gemini 4 Argon, 4x free Gemini usage, 1,000 Flow video credits and 5 TB. Google renamed it from Google One AI Premium, the plan behind Gemini Advanced, on 20 May 2025. The price has not moved since February 2024.

What does Google AI Pro include as of October 2026?

Google AI Pro includes Gemini 4 Argon in the Gemini app, Deep Research, video generation, Gemini Notebook, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and 5 TB of storage for $19.99 a month. We compiled the list below on 25 October 2026 from Google's US subscriptions page, its AI Pro benefits page and two help pages named in each row. It's for a personal account in the US.

It's a Google One plan. That's why one charge covers both the AI and the storage, and why canceling it also shrinks your storage to the free 15 GB (how to cancel Google AI Pro covers what happens to your files). The help page behind the table lists 22 benefit sections in all. Most of them are small. Gemini in Google Earth and Google TV Create Hub are two of those, and both are US only.

Google doesn't print a prompt count for any of it. The Gemini limits page says only: "Your limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit." That's the whole rule. So Deep Research, images and video all spend one meter, and Google AI Pro limits goes through each cap Google does number. On Flow, Google's credits page prices a Veo 3.1 Fast clip at 20 credits, so Pro's 1,000 a month buys 50 of them. Every account also gets 50 free credits a day.

Is Google AI Pro the same as Gemini Advanced?

Yes, Google AI Pro is the same subscription that sold Gemini Advanced, under a new name since 20 May 2025. Google launched it on 8 February 2024 as the Google One AI Premium plan. The launch post renamed Bard to Gemini that day. It put Gemini Advanced, running Ultra 1.0, inside a "brand new" plan at $19.99 a month with 2 TB of storage and a two-month free trial.

Two Google posts on 20 May 2025 carried the rename. The Google One post that launched AI Ultra said: "Our existing AI Premium plan, now called Google AI Pro, is also getting better." The Gemini release notes put it more bluntly: "The Gemini Advanced name is retiring." Since then the paid Gemini tier has no separate name. It's whatever Google AI plan you hold.

The price never moved. Through every change after that, it stayed at $19.99. Google raised Pro's storage from 2 TB to 5 TB on 1 April 2026 at no extra cost, 9to5Google reported. At I/O on 19 May 2026, Google's subscriptions post added YouTube Premium Lite to paid AI Pro plans in select countries. On 16 July 2026 Google wrote "We're renaming NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook" in its Workspace Updates post. Gemini 4 Argon reached Pro and Ultra on 13 October 2026.

If an older guide says 2 TB, Gemini 2.5 Pro or NotebookLM, it's describing this same plan at an earlier date. The three-way $20 comparison on this site keeps the Gemini Advanced name, because people still search for it.

How much is Google AI Pro?

Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month in the US, or $199.99 a year if you switch to annual billing, as of October 2026. The annual plan arrived on 25 June 2025, per 9to5Google, and Google's plans page labels the annual toggle "Save up to 16%". Twelve months at $19.99 is $239.88, so the yearly plan saves $39.89.

Other countries pay in local currency, and the amount isn't a straight conversion. Google's plans page served us CA$26.99 a month from a Canadian address, for example. Google also says you can top up with AI credits once your usage runs out. Charges show up in your Google payments account, and Google AI Pro receipt shows where to find each one.

What is Google AI Pro on a Verizon bill?

Google AI Pro on a Verizon bill is Verizon's Google AI Pro perk, a $10 a month charge per line for the same plan. Verizon's perk FAQ calls it "A $19.99/month value." That's about half the price. It lists 5 TB of storage, an upgraded Gemini, NotebookLM and YouTube Premium Lite, shareable with up to 5 people.

The charge lands on your mobile bill, or on the Fios bill for Fios Home Internet. Verizon gives you 90 days to link the perk to a Google account, or it cancels itself. If you cancel the perk, the change is immediate and the last charge is prorated. Google's own membership page adds one catch: if a third-party partner manages your Google One plan, you can't sign up for AI Pro directly on top of it.

Is there a Google AI Pro free trial or student offer?

Google AI Pro has no advertised free trial on Google's US plan pages as of October 2026, though the plan launched with a two-month one in 2024. The US subscriptions page does link to Google One's offer terms, last updated 13 May 2026. Those cover free periods that Google runs for a limited time, for new members and for members moving up a plan. You need a payment method, the free period may have different usage limits, and then the plan bills at the standard price. So free months come as offers, like the ones below. Each one renews at $19.99 unless you cancel.

Google's student post is plain about the renewal: "Unless cancelled earlier, Google AI Pro will automatically charge $19.99/month after the trial ends." The Pixel offers page gives the 6 month term for the Pixel 11 Pro family. Gemini student discount walks through the student sign-up.

What is Google AI Pro for Education?

Google AI Pro for Education is a Workspace add-on that schools buy for their staff, not a plan you buy for yourself. Google's Workspace admin help says the school must already have Education Fundamentals, Standard or Plus. An admin then assigns a license to each user, and only users 18 and over can get one. That's why so many university IT pages rank for this name. They're telling staff how to claim a seat.

The school pays per user. Google's pricing page lists $20 a user a month on an annual plan, and the admin help page lists $24 on a flexible monthly plan. It was the Gemini Education add-on until Google renamed it on 28 August 2025. A Google for Education post says it gives premium models "in Gemini for Education and NotebookLM", plus Gemini across Workspace apps, for "educators, faculty and staff".

The plan this page covers is different. It's a Google One plan on a personal account, billed to you, with 5 TB and family sharing. A school seat sits on your school account, and the school's admin controls it. The US student offer above is the consumer plan, not this add-on.

How is Google AI Pro different from Google AI Plus and Ultra?

Google AI Pro is the middle one of Google's three paid AI plans. It costs four times as much as AI Plus, and a fifth of what the cheaper AI Ultra costs. We took these rows from Google's US subscriptions page, the Flow credits page and the Google AI plans page, and we read all of them on 25 October 2026.

PlanUS price a monthGemini app usageTop Gemini modelFlow credits a monthStorage
Google AI Plus$4.992x freeFlash (Pro selection ends 13 November 2026)200400 GB
Google AI Pro$19.994x freeGemini 4 Argon1,0005 TB
Google AI Ultra$99.995x ProGemini 4 Argon, highest access10,00020 TB
Google AI Ultra$199.9920x ProGemini 4 Argon, highest access25,00030 TB

Plus subscribers can still pick Pro models until 13 November 2026. Google's email to them, quoted by 9to5Google, says Pro model selection becomes AI Pro and above from that date, which leaves Plus with Flash and Flash-Lite. From then on, Pro is the cheapest plan with the Pro model. Argon is less clear cut: Google's release notes name AI Pro and Ultra, but the Plus card on the subscriptions page also reads "Includes Gemini 4 Argon". Google AI Plus vs Google AI Pro weighs that step. Ultra adds the full YouTube Premium plan and Project Genie. Google AI Pro vs Google AI Ultra sets the two plans side by side, and is Google AI Ultra worth it covers the $80 jump.

How do you subscribe to Google AI Pro?

You subscribe to Google AI Pro at one.google.com on a computer, signed in to the Google account that should get it. Google's membership help page gives these steps:

  1. Open Google One: go to one.google.com and sign in.
  2. Pick the plan: select Google AI Pro and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. Check the terms: review the new membership price and payment date, then click Agree.
  4. Pay: select a payment method and click Subscribe.

You can also upgrade inside the Gemini app on a phone. There, Google Play or Apple bills the plan, and the App Store's US listing shows Google AI Pro (5 TB) at $19.99. Google lists 161 countries and regions where AI Pro is sold. You must be over 13 for the Gemini app and Gemini Notebook, and 18 for Flow, Jules and Gemini in Gmail and Docs. Pixel Pass members and anyone billed through a partner can't sign up this way.

If you came here deciding whether to pay, is Google AI Pro worth it splits the storage value from the chat limit. And if ChatGPT is the other option, Google AI Pro vs ChatGPT Plus sets the two $20 plans side by side.

What does Google AI Pro not include?

Google AI Pro doesn't include Project Genie, the full YouTube Premium plan or Google Home Premium Advanced. Google keeps all three for Ultra or sells them as add-ons. It also doesn't give a printed daily prompt count, so you can't tell in advance how many Argon chats fit in a week. Some perks stay regional: auto browse in Chrome works only in the US and India, and Gemini in Google Earth only in the US.

It doesn't include models from other labs either. Whizi, which publishes this page, sells a different thing: Whizi Pro is $29.99 a month for 2,500 credits across GPT, Claude and Gemini, with Gemini 3.1 Pro at 10 credits a message. That's $10 more than Google AI Pro. And it loses on everything Google bundles. Whizi has no Gemini 4 Argon, no Veo, no Gemini Notebook and no storage.

Workflow checklist
  • Check the plan screen in one.google.com before paying, since Google's plan pages change prices by country
  • Switch to annual billing only if you'll keep the plan a year: $199.99 against $239.88 monthly
  • Students in the US: redeem the free year by 31 December 2026, then cancel or pay $19.99 a month
  • Verizon perk holders: link the perk to a Google account within 90 days or it cancels
  • Before canceling, move files above 15 GB, because the 5 TB goes with the plan
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Google AI Pro the same as Google One?

Does Google AI Pro include NotebookLM?

Yes. NotebookLM is now called Gemini Notebook, after Google renamed it on 16 July 2026, and Google AI Pro raises it to 300 sources per notebook. Google's subscriptions page also promises 5x more Audio Overviews and notebooks than a free account.

Is Google AI Pro for Education the same as Google AI Pro?

No. Google AI Pro for Education is a Google Workspace add-on that a school buys per user, at $20 a user a month on an annual plan, and assigns to staff accounts 18 and over. What is Google AI Pro good for?

Google AI Pro is best for people who already pay Google for storage or work in Gmail and Docs all day, since 5 TB and Gemini in those apps come in the same $19.99. Video in Flow and Gemini 4 Argon are the other draws. Is Google AI Pro worth it tests that case.
