What does Google AI Ultra add over AI Pro?
Ultra adds Deep Think, 5x or 20x Pro's Gemini limits, 10x or 25x the Flow credits, 20 or 30 TB of storage and full YouTube Premium. Google's US plans page lists the entry tier at $99.99 a month and the top tier at $199.99, read on 11 October 2026. Here's what the $99.99 tier gives back for a price five times AI Pro's:
The full tier list, as Google's plan, limits and Flow pages state it for a US personal account on 11 October 2026:

Deep Think is the one chat feature Pro can't get. Google's limits page says "Deep think (AI Ultra only) provides maximum parallel reasoning" and warns that a Deep Think query can take "a few minutes" to answer. It gives no daily count. The same page says every paid limit is compute based and "refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit", so nobody outside Google can tell you how many Deep Think runs $99.99 buys. Gemini Spark, the other Ultra-first feature on the US plans page, isn't Ultra-only any more: Google One lists it for "Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in selected countries."
The YouTube line has a price. YouTube Premium went to $15.99 a month in the US for new subscribers in April 2026 and Lite to $8.99, per 9to5Google. So the upgrade from Pro's Lite to Ultra's full Premium is worth $7 a month, and only if you'd pay for Premium anyway.
Is Google AI Ultra worth it for video generation?
Yes. Video is the only line where Ultra's allowance grows faster than its price. Flow's credit page charges Ultra subscribers 5 credits for a Veo Lite clip and 10 for Fast, half the 10 and 20 that everyone else pays. A Quality clip costs 100 credits for every plan. So Ultra 5x's 10,000 monthly credits make 1,000 Fast clips or 100 Quality clips, against 50 and 10 on Pro.
Per clip, that's a big drop, and it's where the plan earns its price. A Fast clip costs about $0.40 of a Pro subscription if you use every monthly credit, $0.10 on Ultra 5x and $0.08 on Ultra 20x (2,500 Fast clips from 25,000 credits). Quality clips fall from $2.00 to $1.00 to $0.80. Ultra also gets Lite clips at lower priority for 0 credits, and 4K upscaling at 50 credits, which no other plan has.
Every account also gets 50 free Flow credits a day, paid or not. That's 2 Fast clips a day on Pro and 5 on Ultra, so a Pro subscriber who generates every single day adds about 60 Fast clips in a 30 day month. None of it carries over. Flow's page says "Unused monthly Google Flow credits do not roll over to the next month," and unused daily credits don't roll over either. A creator who makes ten clips in a good month and none in a bad one is paying $99.99 for the bad month as well.
So the rule is simple. Under about 50 Fast clips or 10 Quality clips a month, AI Pro covers you, and daily use can stretch Pro past 100 Fast clips. Above that, Ultra 5x is the cheapest per clip Google sells. Pro subscribers can buy top-up credits instead, but Google's credit page lists no prices for them, so that path can't be costed in advance.
Is Google AI Ultra worth it for Antigravity and coding?
For daily agent work in Google's tools, yes. Google's 19 May 2026 post gives the new $100 plan five times Pro's usage limit in both the Gemini app and Antigravity, and cuts the top plan "from $250 to $200". Google One rates Ultra's Antigravity and Jules limits as Higher on the $99.99 tier and Highest on the $199.99 tier, against Expanded on Pro.
That's the same shape as Claude Max. Anthropic's Max plan page sells 5x Pro's per session usage for $100 and 20x for $200, with Claude Code included. ChatGPT Pro bundles Codex. So the $100 coding plan to buy is the one from the vendor whose agent you already run. Ultra's 5x multiplies Gemini and Antigravity only, and it doesn't help a developer who lives in Claude Code.
How does Google AI Ultra compare with Claude Max and ChatGPT Pro?
Of the three big $100 chat plans, Google AI Ultra is the only one that comes with storage, a video quota and YouTube. The three vendors priced their top consumer plans in the same two steps, as their own pages listed them in the US in October 2026:
| Plan | Price a month | Usage against the vendor's $20 plan | Video quota | Storage | Also included |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google AI Ultra 5x | $99.99 | 5x AI Pro | 10,000 Flow credits | 20 TB | Deep Think, YouTube Premium |
| Google AI Ultra 20x | $199.99 | 20x AI Pro | 25,000 Flow credits | 30 TB | Deep Think, YouTube Premium |
| Claude Max 5x | $100 | 5x Claude Pro per session | none listed | none | Claude Code, monthly API credits |
| Claude Max 20x | $200 | 20x Claude Pro per session | none listed | none | Claude Code, monthly API credits |
| ChatGPT Pro 100 | $100 | not stated against Plus | not listed | none | Pro models, Codex, deep research |
| ChatGPT Pro 200 | $200 | more than Pro 100 | not listed | none | Pro models, Codex, deep research |
On the bundle, Ultra wins outright. On chat, it doesn't. Each plan multiplies one vendor's models, and Ultra's 5x is 5x of Gemini. If Claude or GPT is the model you'd pick for your hardest work, Claude Max 5x or ChatGPT Pro 100 is the better $100. OpenAI's Pro tiers page adds a third rung, Pro 500 at $500, and Google has nothing above $199.99. The wider price ladder, from $4.99 to $500, is in AI subscription statistics.
Who should not pay for Google AI Ultra?
Anyone who wants Gemini for chat and hasn't hit Pro's wall. AI Pro at $19.99 has the same 1 million token context window on Google's limits page, and Ultra's extra chat is a multiple of a limit Google doesn't publish. If you do hit it, Gemini usage limit reached shows which limit stopped you before you pay $80 more to raise it. Is Google AI Pro worth it covers that tier line by line.
Anyone buying Ultra for Project Mariner. Google launched Ultra in May 2025 with the browser agent as a headline feature, and the farewell note now on Google's Mariner page reads "Project Mariner service ended on May 4, 2026," as quoted by Gigazine on 7 May. The note sends users to Gemini Agent for complex tasks. Google One lists Gemini Agent for Ultra in the US and in English only, so a buyer outside the US loses the agent half of the old pitch.
Anyone who wants the best model from each vendor rather than more Gemini. Whizi Pro at $29.99 a month puts Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet, ChatGPT Sol and Gemini Pro on one login with 2,500 credits. Gemini Pro costs 10 credits a message there, so that's 250 Gemini Pro answers a month, and you can ask the others the same question in the same chat (Gemini in Whizi; Pro's first week costs $1.99). It has no Deep Think, no Veo and no storage. It can replace the chat half of Ultra for you, but it does nothing for the bundle.
Pay for Ultra when your Flow history shows that you ran out of Pro credits, or when your 5 TB Drive is full. If neither is true for you, stay on Pro.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Google AI Ultra free trial or discount?
Not a public one in the US as of October 2026. Google's US plans page shows Ultra at $99.99 and $199.99 with no intro price. The launch offer of 50% off the first three months dates from 20 May 2025, when Ultra cost $249.99. The only discounted plan on that page is the free year of AI Pro for US college students.
What is the difference between Google AI Ultra at $99.99 and $199.99?
The $199.99 tier has 20x AI Pro's Gemini limits instead of 5x, 25,000 Flow credits instead of 10,000, and 30 TB of storage instead of 20 TB. Both tiers include Deep Think, YouTube Premium and half price Veo Lite and Fast clips. The top tier only pays off if you use more than 10,000 Flow credits or hit the 5x Gemini limit every week.
Does Google AI Ultra still include Project Mariner?
No. A farewell note on Google's Project Mariner page says the service ended on 4 May 2026 and points users to Gemini Agent for complex tasks. As of October 2026, Google One lists Gemini Agent for Ultra in the US and in English only.
