Claude receipt: download the invoice PDF and add a company name to the next one

In brief

Claude receipts are in Settings, then Billing, then Invoices: as of October 2026, each row's Download PDF button links straight to the invoice PDF, although Anthropic's help articles still say View. Every charge is also emailed as "Your receipt from Anthropic." A company name or tax ID reaches future invoices only, because Anthropic cannot edit or reissue a paid one.

Claude invoices download as a PDF from Settings, Billing, Invoices

Open claude.ai, click your initials in the lower left, and choose Settings, then Billing. Scroll down past the plan card, Payment and Usage credits to Invoices. It's a table with four columns: Date, Total, Status and Actions. We opened it on 8 October 2026 on a Max account billed in Canadian dollars, and every row's action read Download PDF. That link goes straight to a PDF on Stripe's pay.stripe.com. There's no page in between.

The button used to say View. When we opened the same panel on 1 September 2026, each row had a View link to an invoice page on Stripe. Anthropic's invoice article and its billing FAQ were both updated on 7 October 2026, and both still tell you to click View. It's the same slot with a new name and a direct PDF behind it. So if a guide says View and your screen says Download PDF, you're in the right place.

No receipt for this month? Look at the Status column first. Anthropic says a failed payment drops the account to the free plan, and paying for AI when your card is declined covers the fixes for a card that won't go through.

Every Claude charge sends a receipt email, and some months send two

Anthropic emails each invoice to your billing email after the charge, with the subject "Your receipt from Anthropic." Search for that line if you can't get into Billing. Two receipts in one month is normal. One covers the plan, and the other covers usage credits, which Anthropic bills on their own, auto-reload included.

App store plans are the usual miss. Anthropic says it doesn't issue invoices for plans bought in the iOS or Android app. Apple or Google bills you, and the receipt lives in that store account. Apple's Purchase History lets you search for a charge by its amount. Google emails an order confirmation to the account that paid.

The API is billed apart from the chat plans. Anthropic doesn't charge amounts under $0.50 by themselves. They carry over to the next API invoice as an applied balance, which is why a Console invoice can show a line you don't remember buying.

How do you put a company name on a Claude invoice?

You tick Use a different name on invoices in the payment method form and type the company name there. Anthropic says the name and address on each invoice come from the payment method on file when that invoice was issued. So the company name lives with the card, not with your profile.

Go to Settings, then Billing, then click Update beside your card in the Payment section. When we opened that form on 1 September 2026, it held a Stripe card field, a billing address and the Use a different name on invoices checkbox. Below those sat a Tax ID type, a value field and a second Update button that saves it all. The Tax or VAT ID goes in the same form. Anthropic notes that at signup, the tax ID field only shows if your address is eligible.

Some guides send you to a Billing information section. Claude doesn't have one. That's ChatGPT's invoice layout, where Billing information has its own Edit button. On Claude, the name, the address and the tax ID all sit on the card, which is also why removing a card from Claude works through the same Update form.

The billing address sets the tax as well. Anthropic says your billing address decides your tax jurisdiction. It doesn't say which ID types qualify, or whether the ID prints on the PDF. Download the next invoice and check it before you send it to finance.

Can Anthropic fix or reissue a Claude invoice you already paid?

No. Anthropic's invoice article says it in one line: "Once an invoice has been issued, we can't edit or reissue it." Its tax ID article adds that "Previously completed invoices cannot be updated retroactively." Every change you make reaches the next invoice and nothing before it.

OpenAI handles the same request differently. Its billing article, read on 8 October 2026, tells you to send support the invoice number and the details you want, and says support will review whether the invoice can be reissued. It also says a reissue isn't guaranteed. Anthropic offers no such route. If your company needs its name on Claude invoices, set it before the next renewal.

A charge you don't recognise is a different problem from a wrong name on a real one. For that, how to get a Claude Pro refund walks through the Get help route and who qualifies.

Do Claude invoices in Japan show consumption tax?

Yes, from 1 April 2026. Anthropic adds 10% consumption tax (JCT) to every plan price for Japanese customers and charges it as a separate amount. Its registration number as a qualified invoice issuer is T7700150134388. Japan's National Tax Agency register lists that number under Anthropic, PBC, registered on 17 February 2026.

Your billing currency stays the same, Anthropic says. The JCT amount shows in Japanese yen (JPY) on the qualified invoice, even if you pay in another currency. Anthropic says a company that pays consumption tax can claim the input tax credit with that invoice. For personal use, it says you can't.

Anthropic applies the tax to invoices from 1 April 2026 on, so an earlier invoice won't carry it. We didn't open a Japanese account's PDF. What the qualified invoice shows comes from Anthropic's notice, not from our own screen.

Can you change the currency on your Claude invoices?

You change the currency on Claude invoices only by letting the plan end and buying it again. Anthropic's route is to set the plan to cancel at the end of the current term, wait for that term to run out, then buy Pro or Max again. At that point you'll see the currency options a new subscriber in your region gets. Billing has no currency switch. Claude payment methods covers the cards claude.ai takes.

You'll hit this if you subscribed before your region got its current pricing. Anthropic says some people still pay in a currency other than the one new subscribers see. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal so the old plan doesn't charge again. How to cancel Claude Pro has the steps for the web, iPhone and Android.

Workflow checklist
  • Check whether Anthropic, Apple or Google charged you before you look for the receipt
  • Download the PDF from Settings, Billing, Invoices, or search your email for "Your receipt from Anthropic."
  • Set the company name and tax ID in the card's Update form before the next renewal
  • Download the next invoice and check the name and tax ID before you send it on
  • In Japan, keep the qualified invoice if your company claims the input tax credit
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Why did I get two receipts from Anthropic in one month?

Because usage credits are billed apart from the plan. Anthropic sends one receipt for the Pro or Max charge and another for each usage credit purchase, including the ones auto-reload makes. An upgrade partway through a cycle also brings its own plan change invoice right away.

Why doesn't my Claude invoice match the plan price?

Usually an upgrade or a credit. Anthropic bills an upgrade as one full cycle of the new plan minus the unused value of the old one, and an applied balance spends credit already on the account. Each shows as its own line. Japanese invoices from 1 April 2026 also add 10% JCT.

How do I add a VAT or tax ID to a Claude invoice?

Open Settings, then Billing, click Update next to your card, and fill in the Tax or VAT ID field in that form. Anthropic says the change applies to future billing cycles only. It doesn't say which ID types qualify, so check the next PDF when it arrives.

Can I change the name on a Claude invoice I already paid?

No. Anthropic says it can't edit or reissue an invoice once it's issued. Tick "Use a different name on invoices" in the payment method's Update form now, and the company name shows from the next invoice on.
