Google AI Pro not working after payment? 8 causes, and why most reports name Antigravity

In brief

When Google AI Pro is not working after payment, Google's first fix is to restart the Gemini app, then check which Google Account paid: a charge can land on a second signed-in account. Of 132 forum threads we counted where a paid Google AI Pro plan went unrecognized, 105 involved Antigravity, Google's coding app, not Gemini.

Which of these 8 causes matches what you see?

Google AI Pro is a Google One membership, so it can go missing in Gemini, in Google One or in a coding tool. An old app is one quiet cause: Google wants the Google app at 16.18 or later on Android, and the Gemini app at 1.2025.187003 or later on iPhone. Each row below follows a Google help page we read on 2 November 2026.

One rule from Google covers the second row and saves a double charge. Its Google One help page says: "If a charge is applied to your payment card, but you don't find a payment reflected on your Google Account, check if you're signed into multiple Google Accounts." Google adds that you can cancel the purchase on that account and buy again on the right one. Find the first plan before you pay twice. If Gemini won't load or answer at all, on any plan, that's an outage or a device problem, which our Gemini not working page covers.

Why does Antigravity say your Google AI Pro plan is ineligible?

Antigravity checks your Google AI plan separately from Gemini, and that check is where most public reports of a paid plan going missing land. On 2 November 2026 we searched Google's AI Developers Forum for threads whose titles say an active or paid Google AI Pro plan isn't recognized, shows Free, Starter or trial, or fails an eligibility check. We found 132, opened between 7 December 2025 and 2 November 2026. We left out threads about weekly limit lockouts, Gemini API billing and Ultra only plans.

The count is climbing. September and October 2026 brought 72 of the 132 threads. Jio, the Indian carrier that bundles AI Pro, appears in 23 titles. A typical one, from 30 September 2026, says a plan bought that day showed "Antigravity Starter Quota." Gemini app problems go to a different Google community, so they aren't in this count. Forum threads are reports, not diagnoses.

Google's Antigravity FAQ names three gates before a plan counts. Your account has to be in a supported country, and you have to be 18. It also has to be a personal account, since Workspace accounts need an admin to provision Antigravity. If the country is wrong, Google says to check the one on its Terms of Service page and request a change. Then sign out of Antigravity and sign back in with the account that paid.

A trial isn't a paid plan, either. The FAQ says: "Some models require a paid Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscription and are not included in free trials." Google's benefit restrictions page keeps Gemini 4 Argon in Antigravity for "paying Google AI Pro plan members." On 13 October 2026 a Jio plan holder posted an in-app notice saying third-party model access ends on their plan on 2 November 2026. A reply in that thread says trial, device and partner plans are "considered promotional plans and do not include access to Claude 5.5." For trial users, the FAQ says to request a cancellation of the trial and switch to a paid AI Pro plan.

Which Google Account paid for Google AI Pro?

The account that paid is the one where one.google.com lists Google AI Pro. Open it in every Google Account you're signed in to, in the same browser, using the account switcher at the top right. The Subscriptions & services tab at payments.google.com lists each account's recurring charges, so it shows where the plan bills.

Gemini doesn't follow your payment. It uses whichever account is active in that browser or app. If Gemini shows Free, check the account picture in Gemini first. Antigravity, AI Studio and Gemini CLI each sign you in again, so the account can differ there too.

Workspace accounts are a separate trap. Google's plan article says it's "for users managing Gemini Apps for a personal Google Account." A work or school account gets Gemini only when its admin turns it on, so a plan bought on your Gmail won't appear there.

Bought Google AI Pro on iPhone, Google Play or through Jio?

Then the store or the partner bills the plan, and you manage it there. Google's Gemini plan article puts the iPhone rule plainly: "If you already have a Google One subscription, the app you originally subscribed to Google One from will open to complete the upgrade." If you subscribed on the web or on Android, Google says you may not be able to upgrade on an iPhone.

Partner plans work by link. Google's third-party subscriptions page says a carrier sends a URL with "a unique activation code," and you sign in to the account you want before you tap Activate plan. If that account already pays through Apple, Google says "Your current plan continues and your new plan activates immediately." Cancel the Apple plan in Apple settings, or Apple keeps billing you.

A plan from a carrier or another partner is managed on the provider's side. Google says to change or cancel it on "your service provider's website or app." If an activation link fails, Google lists two errors: the link expired, or it's already been used on another Google Account.

Why are some Google AI Pro features still missing?

Many Google AI Pro features have an age or country gate on top of the plan. Google's benefit restrictions page, read 2 November 2026, sets 18 as the minimum for Deep Research, Gemini in Chrome, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, Google AI Studio, Antigravity, Flow and Jules. Gemini in Chrome is US only. Auto browse in Chrome needs version 144 or later. Google adds: "After purchase, users must restart their browser."

In the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK, Google's Gemini limits page sets 18 as the age to use Gemini with a Google AI plan. In most other countries the floor is 13. If your Google Account lists you as under 18, the adult features stay off until you verify your age. Our page on why Gemini isn't available for your account covers the age and admin rules.

YouTube Premium Lite has its own catch. Google says "The YouTube Premium Lite benefit is unavailable until the free trials convert to a paid subscription." It also stays with the plan manager, so family members don't get it. Family members do get "Access to AI benefits such as Gemini App, Google Antigravity, Gemini Notebook," per Google's family sharing page, but they must live in the same country as the manager. Our Google AI Pro family sharing page lists each benefit.

What happens to Google AI Pro when a payment fails?

A failed renewal doesn't cut Google AI Pro off at once: Google One adds a seven-day grace period. Its purchase policy says: "During this grace period, you won't lose access to anything in your Google Account or your current storage plan." Fix the card inside those seven days. Google's payment help page sends you through Google Play to change it. On a computer, go to Google One, click Settings, then Change payment method. In Google Play, click My subscriptions, then Manage next to Google One, then Update next to Primary payment method.

Google's own tip is to look at the expiry date first: "Declined payments are sometimes caused by expired cards." Our page on Gemini payment methods lists what Google accepts in each country. As of November 2026, Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month in the US, per the App Store listing for Gemini. That's the charge to look for on your statement.

How do you contact Google One support about a missing plan?

Google One members can reach support by chat, phone or email. Google's support article gives the path: go to Google One, click Help at the top, then Contact us under "Need more help?" Have the receipt email and the account you paid with ready.

Google One support handles the membership. It doesn't run Antigravity or AI Studio, so a plan that shows as active in Google One but Starter in Antigravity goes to Google's AI developer forum. Antigravity's FAQ sends support questions to its community pages too. Don't buy a second plan to test it. If the plan never works, our Google AI Pro refund guide covers Google, Apple and Google Play rules.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does Google AI Pro take to activate after payment?

Usually at once, though storage can lag. Google says a partner plan "activates immediately," and its Gemini help center adds: "If the Google AI plan that you upgraded to doesn't show in your Gemini mobile app, restart the app." For the extra storage, Google allows up to 24 hours. If Pro still isn't there after a restart, check which account paid before anything else.

Why is YouTube Premium Lite not working with my Google AI Pro plan?

Because it isn't active during a free trial. Google says the benefit "is unavailable until the free trials convert to a paid subscription." It's also limited to the plan manager, so family members don't get it, and it's only offered in some countries.

Why does Antigravity show Starter Quota when I pay for Google AI Pro?

Antigravity didn't match your plan to the account you signed in with. Check that it's the same personal account, that you're 18 and verified, and that your country is supported. Then sign out and back in. Trial plans don't get some models. In our count, 105 of 132 unrecognized AI Pro reports came from Antigravity.

Can I get a refund if Google AI Pro never worked?

You can ask, and who decides depends on where you paid. Google One says storage plan purchases are non-refundable in most countries. Apple handles App Store refunds, and Google Play purchases follow Play's rules. Our refund guide has each route.
