Which AI subscription is best? Whizi Pro, for side by side model chats
We rank plans first by one test: the cheapest plan that shows two model families in side by side columns, each in its own separate chat you can keep talking to. Whizi Pro passes it at $29.99. No other plan here does. Plans that fail the test are ranked by a second view, the cost per flagship model family. Poe Basic leads that view at $1.25:
Whizi's test result comes with limits you should know first. Compare runs on whizi.io only. It isn't in the iPhone or Android app, and it shows two models at a time. Each column keeps its own hidden chat, so neither model sees the other's answer, and you can ask both a follow up (how compare works). Pro's Gemini models are Flash and an older Pro preview. Gemini Argon needs Powerhouse at $49.99. Dedicated compare apps outside these nine pass the test for less: ChatHub Pro shows up to six models side by side for $19 a month as of October 2026.
Two cheaper plans run one prompt through several models in other ways. Perplexity Pro, at $20, can run a Model Council inside its Computer agent, where "each model researches your question independently and at the same time." You get a combined answer and each model's report as a file, not ongoing chats. The council inside Perplexity search needs Max. Max costs $200 a month. Poe puts a compare control under each answer, the NC Bar Association found, and the second model answers in the same chat. We found no Poe page that says whether that second model sees the first answer.
Poe Basic is the cheapest way to reach all four flagship families. It costs $4.99 a month. The labs' own main plans cost far more: ChatGPT Plus is $20, Claude Pro is $20, Google AI Pro is $19.99 and SuperGrok Premium is $30. That's $89.99 a month, $22.50 a family. Poe's help center puts it bluntly: every major lab "offers a $20/month subscription that only covers their own models."
How much does each AI subscription cost per flagship model family?
This is the second view. Poe Basic wins it. A plan counts a family only when it includes the model that lab sells on its own main plan: GPT Sol (ChatGPT Plus), Claude Opus (Claude Pro), Gemini Argon (Google AI Pro) and xAI's flagship Grok (SuperGrok Premium). Every row uses the US monthly list price as of October 2026. "Yes" means the plan names that model, or a newer or higher one from the same family:
| Plan | US price a month | GPT Sol | Claude Opus | Gemini Argon | Flagship Grok | Families | Cost per family |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Poe Basic | $4.99 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 4 | $1.25 |
| Poe Plus | $19.99 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 4 | $5.00 |
| Whizi Pro | $29.99 | Yes | Yes | No, Flash and an older Pro preview | Yes | 3 | $10.00 |
| Perplexity Pro | $20 | Yes | No, Sonnet only | No, Flash only | Yes | 2 | $10.00 |
| Whizi Powerhouse | $49.99 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 4 | $12.50 |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | No | No | Yes | No | 1 | $19.99 |
| ChatGPT Plus | $20 | Yes | No | No | No | 1 | $20.00 |
| Claude Pro | $20 | No | Yes | No | No | 1 | $20.00 |
| All four labs' own plans | $89.99 | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | 4 | $22.50 |
| SuperGrok Premium | $30 | No | No | No | Yes | 1 | $30.00 |
| Microsoft 365 Premium (Copilot) | $19.99 | Not named | Not named | Not named | Not named | 0 | none |
| Vibe Pro (Mistral) | $14.99 | No | No | No | No | 0 | none |
Perplexity's gap is in its own model table, dated 17 October 2026. Pro gets GPT Sol, Grok, Claude Sonnet and Gemini Flash in search. Claude Opus, Claude Fable, Gemini Argon and GPT Astra are marked Max only, and Max costs $200. The same page warns that "The model selector in Perplexity is always the source of truth for your account."
Poe beats every other plan on this view by a wide margin. Its purchases FAQ promises "access to all major models and more starting at $4.99/month", and its bot pages list GPT Astra, Claude Opus, Claude Fable, Gemini Argon and Grok. Basic gives you 10,000 points a day to spend across them. Our Poe review works out what those points buy on each model.
The ranking below uses this view for every plan that fails the side by side test. Each app appears once, at its cheapest plan in the table. Ties within $1 go to the app with more US App Store ratings on 11 October 2026, which puts ChatGPT (11,187,768) ahead of Gemini (2,331,630) and Claude (277,600).
Which AI subscription is best for what you do?
Each plan wins for one kind of user. We took every pick from the vendor's own plan page, and gave every plan a losing case from the same pages:
| Rank | Plan | Best for | Why it wins | Where it loses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Whizi Pro, $29.99 | Comparing two models on the same prompt | Two model families in side by side columns, each in its own chat, with GPT Sol, Claude Opus and Grok on the plan | Compare is on whizi.io only, two models at a time, and Gemini Argon needs Powerhouse at $49.99 |
| 2 | Poe Basic, $4.99 | Reaching every flagship for the least money | GPT, Claude Opus, Gemini Argon and Grok from $4.99, $1.25 a family | Its compare control answers in the same chat, and we found no Poe page saying whether the second model sees the first answer |
| 3 | Perplexity Pro, $20 | Answers with sources | GPT Sol and Grok on a search engine built for citations, plus a Model Council inside Computer | The council returns reports, not chats, and Claude Opus and Gemini Argon are held for the $200 Max plan |
| 4 | ChatGPT Plus, $20 | Most people who want one lab | GPT Sol at Medium and High thinking, deep research, and GPT Astra inside ChatGPT Work and Codex | Extra High and Pro thinking need ChatGPT Pro, from $100 |
| 5 | Google AI Pro, $19.99 | Google account holders | Gemini Argon plus 5 TB of storage and 1,000 Google Flow credits | Only Gemini, and Ultra starts at $99.99 |
| 6 | Claude Pro, $20 | Writing and coding with Claude | Claude Opus and Claude Code included, or $17 a month billed yearly | Claude Fable costs extra usage credits on Pro |
| 7 | SuperGrok Premium, $30 | People who live on X | "Latest Grok models" plus X without ads on most surfaces | $30 a month for one family, after a half-price first month |
| 8 | Microsoft 365 Premium, $19.99 | Word and Excel users | Copilot sits inside the Office apps you already use | Microsoft's Premium page doesn't name the models behind Copilot |
| 9 | Vibe Pro by Mistral, $14.99 | An assistant made in Europe | The cheapest paid plan here after Poe Basic | Runs Mistral's models, not one of the four families |
Whizi, which publishes this page, is the newest app on the list and loses on every trust signal. It went live on 26 August 2026 and had 3 US App Store ratings on 11 October. There's no iPad version, and it has no widget or Siri action. Files you attach in the app are capped at 10 MB each (the website takes 100 MB). The free tier is thin: text only, on Whizi AI and Auto, with 7 messages on day one and 3 a day after that. Pro at $29.99 a month adds Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet and ChatGPT Sol, out of a catalog of 280+ models, and credits per message vary by model and can change. It's on Google Play and the App Store, and the pricing page lists all three plans.
Two big assistants have no subscription to rank. Meta AI and DeepSeek are free, and neither App Store listing showed a paid tier on 11 October 2026. ChatGPT's free plan is the strongest option at $0: OpenAI's pricing page lists "Unlimited text chats with GPT-6" on Free. Our comparison of the three $20 plans goes deeper on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini.
Which AI subscription is best for coding?
Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus are the coding picks, because both include the lab's own coding agent at $20. Anthropic's pricing page marks Claude Code as included on Pro, with Opus on the same plan. OpenAI's GPT-6 help article says "Plus plans include GPT-6 Astra in ChatGPT Work and Codex." That's OpenAI's top model, which chat users only get on Pro.
A model in a chat window isn't the same as an agent that works in your files. Whizi and Perplexity Pro reach strong coding models, but neither sells Claude Code or Codex. If you write software every day, buy the lab whose agent you prefer. xAI pitches Grok here too: its model docs call it "Our flagship model for code and everything else."
- Count the model families you actually use each week before you pay for more than one
- Check the vendor's own model table for your plan, not the sales page
- Run one real prompt through two models side by side before you pay for both labs
- Divide the monthly price by the families it includes to compare plans fairly
- Pay yearly only for a plan you have used for a full month
- Cancel any plan whose only model is also on a plan you keep
Frequently asked questions
Which AI subscription lets you compare models side by side?
Of the nine plans on this page, only Whizi Pro does, at $29.99 a month on whizi.io: it shows two model families in side by side columns, each in its own chat you can keep talking to. ChatHub, a compare app, shows up to six models for $19. Perplexity runs a Model Council in search only on Max, at $200, and Poe compares inside one chat. We cover what a multi-model plan gives up in one subscription for all AI models.
How many AI subscriptions do you need?
One, for almost everyone. A second plan earns its fee only with a feature the first lab doesn't sell, such as Claude Code or Google's storage bundle. Three $20 plans cost $60 a month for models that overlap on most prompts. Run the test in how many AI subscriptions you need.
How much do people spend on AI subscriptions?
A single plan runs $19.99 to $30 a month as of October 2026, and all four labs' main plans together cost $89.99. Annual billing lowers some of them: Claude Pro drops to $17 a month and Whizi Pro to $19.99. Add up your own bills with the AI subscription cost calculator.
Is Perplexity Pro better than ChatGPT Plus?
For model reach, yes: at the same $20, Perplexity Pro includes GPT Sol and Grok, and ChatGPT Plus includes GPT only. For depth inside one lab, ChatGPT Plus wins, with deep research, image creation and GPT Astra in Codex. Our Perplexity Pro review tests where its searching pays for itself.
