Best AI for presentations: Gamma for new decks, Claude for your template, Copilot for Microsoft 365, and 7 more

In brief

Gamma is the best AI for building a new presentation from a prompt, with a free plan that exports PowerPoint files and paid plans from $9 a month. Claude for PowerPoint is the best for decks that must match a company template, because it reads the slide master and builds charts you can edit, as of October 2026.

Which AI is best for presentations, by the job you need done?

Gamma, Claude for PowerPoint and Copilot each win a different job, and the bill depends on how you pay. Beautiful.ai charges 3.1 times as much month to month as on a yearly plan. Free plans split on export too. Gamma's gives you a .pptx, and Pitch's doesn't. We read each vendor's pricing or help page on 25 October 2026 for this table.

Pick by where the finished file has to live. A deck that ends up in PowerPoint should start in PowerPoint, or in a tool with a real .pptx export. Gamma, Beautiful.ai and Presentations.ai all list one. Pitch keeps .pptx export for paid plans, and a free Canva user gets only 20 AI uses a month.

Prezi isn't in the table because its pricing page wouldn't load for us on 25 October 2026. Prezi's own pricing post of June 2026 lists a free Basic plan with 500 AI credits a month and Standard at $7 a month billed annually. It says "PowerPoint export (.pptx) is available on paid plans." Pick Prezi when you want its zooming canvas, not slides in a row.

What does an AI presentation maker cost if you pay monthly?

Most AI presentation makers cost $9 to $20 a month on annual billing, and paying month to month adds 18% to 210%. The biggest jump on our list is Beautiful.ai's.

Beautiful.ai lists Pro at "$14.50 per month for individuals, billed annually," and the same plan at $45 billed monthly. That's $174 a year against $540. Microsoft charges $99.99 a year or $9.99 a month for Microsoft 365 Personal, which works out to $8.33 a month on annual billing. Anthropic charges $200 up front for a year of Claude Pro, or $20 a month.

Gamma, Pitch and Presentations.ai show only their annual rates on the pricing page we read. Gamma says annual billing saves "up to 28%." If you need a deck for one pitch next week, buy one month and cancel.

Which AI works inside PowerPoint on your own template?

Claude for PowerPoint is the strongest add-in for a corporate template, and Copilot is the default for anyone already on Microsoft 365. Four assistants now work inside the PowerPoint app itself.

Anthropic's help page is the most specific. It says "Claude reads the slide master, layouts, fonts, and color scheme in your deck" and builds editable native PowerPoint charts, not static images. It runs on PowerPoint on the web, Windows (build 16.0.13127.20296 or later) and Mac (16.46 or later), but not on an iPad or Android. It needs a paid Claude plan, from $17 a month.

OpenAI's ChatGPT for PowerPoint works on every plan, Free included, with "limited usage access" on Free and Go. OpenAI says it's "designed to work within existing presentation templates where possible" and warns that some chart and formatting edits may be limited. Can ChatGPT make a PowerPoint walks through the add-in step by step.

Microsoft says starting from your organization's template "will let Copilot know that you'd like to retain the presentation's theme and design," and it works best with Word files under 24 MB. Microsoft 365 Personal and Family get "higher than free" Copilot usage in PowerPoint, and Premium, at $19.99 a month, gets "extensive" usage. Plus AI is the fourth, an add-in for both PowerPoint and Google Slides from $10 a month.

Is there a free AI that makes good presentations?

Yes. Gamma's free plan is the best free option, since it exports a real .pptx, but its 400 starter credits don't refill. Plan on a few decks, not a semester of them.

  • Gamma: 400 credits at signup, up to 10 slides a prompt, and export to "PDF, PPTX, PNG & Google Slides."
  • Presentations.ai: 200 credits and up to 20 slides, with PowerPoint and PDF export on the free Starter plan.
  • Pitch: 100 AI credits that don't renew, unlimited presentations, but no .pptx export until Plus.
  • Prezi: 500 AI credits a month on the free Basic plan, per its June 2026 pricing post, with .pptx export on paid plans only.
  • Canva: up to 20 standard or premium AI uses a month.
  • Claude: Anthropic's pricing page lists Claude Slides on Free, and its help center lists PowerPoint files among what Claude can create in chat.
  • ChatGPT: the PowerPoint add-in on Free, with limited use and no number published.

Free plans fail on volume, not quality. A free Gamma deck looks the same as a paid one. You just run out.

How do you get a deck worth presenting from any of these tools?

Ask for the outline before the slides, and write each headline as a finding. Every tool above builds better slides from a short, argued outline than from a topic.

Outline prompt: "Build an outline for a [number] slide presentation for [audience], who need to decide [decision]. Give each slide a headline that states a finding in one sentence, not a topic, plus two or three supporting points and the source for each. Don't write the slides yet. Flag any point I haven't given you evidence for."

Then paste the outline into the tool you picked, apply your template first if it's an add-in, and check every number on every slide against your source. Charts are where these tools slip most. OpenAI says so for its add-in, and an exact chart is safer built in Excel and pasted in.

Whizi, which publishes this page, makes the simplest kind of deck. Ask a model on whizi.io for a presentation and a file card builds a 16:9 .pptx in your browser, with speaker notes, tables and seven slide layouts in three color themes. It loses to every designed tool above: no images, no charts, no template import, and no decks in the mobile app.
