Which QuillBot alternative fits how you paraphrase?
Pick by the size of what you rewrite. Length is the real split. QuillBot is built for short passages and a row of mode buttons. A chat app takes a whole section at once and follows whatever instruction you write, from "keep my terms, change the rhythm" to "make this a formal email". We read every price below on 31 October 2026, in US dollars unless marked. QuillBot's figures come from its own help center listings, and where its pages disagree, we say so.
| Option | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | How you rewrite | The limit | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Whizi Pro | $29.99 | $239.99 a year | Paste text into a chat, pick Claude, GPT, Gemini or the Writing Copilot agent | 2,500 credits a month; Writing Copilot costs 1 credit a message | You paraphrase whole sections and want several models |
| QuillBot Premium (staying) | $19.95 | $99.95 ($8.33 a month) | 9 preset modes plus custom modes | Unlimited words | You rewrite short passages all day with one click |
| Wordtune Unlimited | Not on the default view | $9.99 a month billed annually | Sentence rewrites in Chrome and Edge | Unlimited rewrites (Advanced: 30 a day, $6.99 list) | You rewrite inside the browser, sentence by sentence |
| Grammarly Pro | $30 | $144 ($12 a month) | Full sentence rewrites inline in Word, Docs, email and browsers | 2,000 AI prompts a month | You also want typos caught as you type |
| LanguageTool Premium | €19.90 | €59.89 | Sentence paraphrasing in its editor and Premium extension | Unlimited paraphrasing | You paraphrase in more than one language |
| ProWritingAid Premium | $30 | $120 ($10 a month) | Rephrase inside its editor, Google Docs and Microsoft Office | Unlimited Rephrases | You rework long manuscripts |
| Hemingway Editor Plus | $10 | $100 ($8.33 a month) | AI rewrites of wordy sentences in eight styles | 5,000 AI sentences a month | You want plainer sentences, not new wording |
| ChatGPT Plus | $20 | Billed monthly only | Chat with GPT | Higher limits than Free | You only want GPT |
| Claude Pro | $20 | $200 ($17 a month) | Chat with Claude, plus Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365 | More usage than Free, measured every 5 hours and every week | You only want Claude |
The cheapest paid row is LanguageTool at €59.89 a year, and its Premium page lists "Unlimited sentence paraphrasing powered by A.I." The cheapest dollar row is Wordtune Advanced at $6.99 a month billed annually ($4.89 in a sale that day), though it stops at 30 rewrites a day. QuillBot and Hemingway tie at $8.33. A chat plan costs more than either, and it buys whole models that also draft, summarize and answer questions.
Is there a free QuillBot alternative?
Yes. The most generous free paraphraser by size is a chat app, because a single free turn takes a full page, not a paragraph. QuillBot Free caps each paraphrase at 100 to 125 words (its own pages give both figures) and two modes, Standard and Fluency. The free options as of 31 October 2026:
| Free option | What you get | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| QuillBot Free | Paraphrase 100 to 125 words at a time in Standard and Fluency | 7 more modes and unlimited words need Premium |
| Whizi free account | 10 messages a day on Whizi AI, Auto and Claude Haiku 5.5, up to 5,000 tokens in and out per turn | No one click mode buttons; you write the instruction |
| Wordtune Basic | 10 rewrites and AI suggestions a day | Daily cap |
| ProWritingAid Free | 10 Rephrases a day, grammar checks | Line editing reports run on 500 words |
| Grammarly Free | 100 AI prompts a month, spelling and grammar | No full sentence rewrites |
| LanguageTool Free | Paraphrasing Tool on its website, with usage limits | The browser extension is Premium only |
Use the free rows to test the voice you get back. If the rewrites read like you, the paid plan is worth pricing. If they don't, more words won't fix it.
When is staying on QuillBot the right call?
Stay on QuillBot if you rewrite short passages many times a day and like picking a mode with one click. Nine preset modes as buttons is faster than typing an instruction for each paragraph. That's QuillBot's real edge over every chat app on this page, Whizi included.
Stay too if $8.33 a month is your budget. A chat plan at $17 to $20 costs two to 2.4 times as much. That gap is real. It's only worth paying if you also use the models for drafting, research or questions. Leave when your passages outgrow the box, or when you want a second model's version of the same paragraph.
Where does Whizi beat QuillBot, and where does it lose?
Whizi loses on one click modes and wins on length and model choice. Start with the loss. Whizi has no mode buttons and no saved prompt library. You type the instruction, or you save it once as a Skill, which is a standing instruction of up to 4,000 characters that you switch on for a chat. QuillBot's modes are quicker for a single sentence. Buttons win there.
It wins on everything around the sentence. Whizi Pro is $29.99 a month, or $239.99 a year, for 2,500 credits, and it covers Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet, ChatGPT Sol and Gemini, plus Kimi K3, DeepSeek and Llama. Each model has a fixed credit cost per message. The Writing Copilot agent and Claude Haiku 5.5 cost 1, and Claude Sonnet 5 costs 10. On Pro you can compare two models side by side on one paragraph and keep the better paraphrase. And if a Pro account leaves the picker on Auto, Whizi routes rewrites and translation to its rewrite rung, which costs 2 credits a message.
The same plan makes pictures too, 100 a month on Pro. A student paying for QuillBot ($99.95) and ChatGPT Plus ($240) spends $339.95 a year on two tools. Whizi Pro's yearly plan covers both jobs in one chat. QuillBot's summarizer and grammar checker stay one tab away for free.
- Check how long your typical passage is: about 100 words fits QuillBot Free, a full page needs a paid plan or a chat app
- Write down which QuillBot modes you actually use, then turn each one into a one line instruction
- If you need QuillBot for one term only, check the term and price of its shorter plan before paying monthly
- Run the same paragraph through two models side by side and keep the version that sounds like you
- If you also pay for ChatGPT Plus, add the two bills and compare them with one plan that covers both
- Check your school or employer rules on paraphrasing tools before you submit anything
