Suno alternatives: 6 picks priced, and why Suno Pro's 20 downloads matter more than its 500 songs

In brief

The best Suno alternative for licensed work is ElevenLabs Music, which allows streaming release from its $22 Creator plan. Gemini is the free pick, with Lyria tracks of about 2 to 3 minutes. Before you switch, note Suno Pro's real limit: $10 a month makes about 500 songs but downloads only 20.

Is Suno's download cap the real reason to switch?

For a lot of Suno users, yes. Suno Pro costs $10 a month and its 2,500 credits make about 500 songs, because Suno's plan help page says the free plan's 50 daily credits are "enough to make 10 songs per day", which is 5 credits a song. But Suno's pricing page gives Pro 20 downloads a month. Premier makes about 2,000 songs and downloads 60. So a Suno plan is priced by downloads, not by songs. We worked this out ourselves from Suno's own figures, read on 31 October 2026.

At $10 for 20 downloads, a kept Suno Pro song costs 50 cents. On Premier it's $30 for 60, the same 50 cents. Unused downloads don't roll over, per Suno's help center. If you keep more than 60 songs a month, no Suno plan fits, and that's when an alternative earns a look. If you keep fewer, Suno is still cheap.

Which Suno alternative should you use?

Pick by what you need to do with the song. We read every row below on the vendor's own page on 31 October 2026, in US dollars, billed monthly unless the cell says otherwise.

Two rows need context. Udio's help center says "downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled", a change that came with its Universal Music Group partnership. It still makes songs. You just can't take them anywhere. And ElevenLabs' length depends on the page: its music docs FAQ says 5 minutes, while its API page lists up to 10.

Which Suno alternative is safe for commercial release?

ElevenLabs Music is the safest Suno alternative for release. Its music terms, which it updated on 9 October 2026, permit "All online and offline commercial use" on every plan "except film, TV, radio, and Studio Games." If you want to put a song on a streaming service, though, you need Creator or above. The terms mark streaming as "Prohibited" on Free and Starter. Creator is $22 a month, or $11 for the first month, on ElevenLabs' pricing page, and music costs 900 credits a minute.

Suno's paid plans carry commercial use rights too. Its help center says "Songs made with Suno's free plan can only be used for non-commercial purposes," and that you "retain the rights to the songs you made while subscribed, even after the subscription is canceled." Rights aren't retroactive. A song you made on Free still can't be used commercially after you subscribe.

Stable Audio 3.0 is the self hosted route. Stability AI publishes Small and Medium as open weights, says they're trained on licensed and Creative Commons recordings, and offers its Community License free to organizations under $1M in annual revenue. You need your own GPU and the time to set it up.

Is there a free Suno alternative?

Yes. Gemini is the free Suno alternative. Google's music help page offers "short (about 1 minute) or full (about 2-3 minutes)" tracks, and you must "Be 18 years of age or older." There are limits, and the page says you can upgrade or wait for them to refresh. "Each generated track will have an embedded digital watermark to help identify it as AI-generated."

Suno's own free plan is decent for trying ideas. It gives 50 credits a day, which is about 10 songs on v6-mini, with no commercial rights. Its help center allows "up to 7 lifetime trial downloads" and no monthly ones. ElevenLabs Free gives 10,000 credits a month, about 11 minutes of music at 900 credits a minute, but no streaming. Udio Free makes songs you can't download.

When does one plan beat a music subscription?

One plan wins only if music is a side job and you'd pay for chat anyway. Whizi, which publishes this page, has two music rows on Powerhouse. Whizi Music AI runs MiniMax Music 2.0, makes 30 seconds to 2 min 30 s, and writes the lyrics if you don't give any. Whizi Music Clip runs Google's Lyria 3 Clip and stops at 30 seconds. Each song spends 15 of Powerhouse's 10,000 monthly credits, per the plans page.

As a music tool, it loses on every point that Suno sells. Suno writes up to 8 minutes in one go, and Whizi stops at 2 min 30 s. Suno gives you stems and its v6 models, while Whizi gives you one mp3. So why would anyone use it? Because of everything else on the plan. For $49.99 a month you also get every chat model in the catalog, 500 pictures and Whizi Video AI. If you pay $10 for Suno Pro, $20 for ChatGPT Plus and $20 for Claude Pro, that's $50, and one bill can do all of those jobs. If you're making a record, though, buy Suno or ElevenLabs.

When does staying on Suno win?

Staying wins if you keep 60 songs a month or fewer and you want full length vocals. Suno's help center says that all three of its v6 models can write up to 8 minutes in one generation. Of the hosted options above, only ElevenLabs' API page says it can go longer, at 10 minutes. Here's what each Suno plan buys you, from its pricing page on 31 October 2026:

Premier$30$288 ($24 a month)10,000 a monthAbout 2,000603 types

Our read: if you keep 20 songs a month, switch Suno Pro to yearly billing and pay $8. If you keep more than 60, or you need streaming rights in writing on a cheap plan, compare ElevenLabs Creator. If you only want a song now and then, Gemini makes one for free.

Workflow checklist
  • Count the songs you actually keep each month, not the ones you generate
  • Download every Suno song you might use, since unused downloads don't roll over
  • Check streaming rights before release: ElevenLabs allows them from Creator, not Starter
  • Make songs you plan to sell on a paid plan, because Suno's rights aren't retroactive
  • Try Gemini's free Lyria tracks before paying for any music plan
  • Skip Udio if you need the file, since its downloads are disabled
