20 SEO prompts that start from your real data
A chat model cannot see search volume, rankings or your Search Console. Ask it for SEO advice cold and it guesses. These prompts feed it the results page, your export or your page first, and make it say what it does not know.
Swap anything in [brackets] for your query, page or export.
01. Map the search intent from the real results page
Before you decide what kind of page to write for a query.
Here are the top 10 results Google shows for "[query]", with each title, URL and the snippet under it: [paste the results, plus any boxes you see: People also ask, videos, a map, shopping] From these results only, tell me: 1. The main intent: learn, compare, buy, find a place, or do a task. 2. The page type that wins: guide, list, tool, product page, category page, video, forum thread. 3. The angle most results share, and any result that ranks with a different angle. 4. What a searcher seems to want that none of the results give them. Then say in one line whether my page, [describe it], fits this intent or needs to be a different kind of page. You cannot see search volume or my rankings, so do not guess at either.
02. Cluster a keyword list into the pages that should exist
You have a big keyword export and no idea how many pages it means.
Here is a keyword list from [tool or Search Console], with volume if I have it: [paste the list] Group the keywords so that each group can be answered by one page. Two keywords belong together when a searcher would be happy with the same page for both, not just when they share words. Give me a table: suggested page, primary keyword, the other keywords it covers, and the intent. Then list the keywords you could not place and why. Use only the volumes I gave you. Where I gave none, leave the cell empty instead of estimating.
03. Outline a page that beats the top results on substance
You want to rank for a query where the current results are fine but thin.
I want to write the best page for "[query]". Here are the headings of the top [number] results: [paste each result's URL and its H2 and H3 headings] What I know that they do not: [your data, experience, examples, tests, prices you checked] First, list the subtopics every result covers, the ones only one or two cover, and the questions none of them answer. Then write an outline for my page: H2 and H3 headings in order, one line under each on what it says, and a mark on every section where my own knowledge goes. Do not pad it to look longer than the competition. If a section exists only because they all have it, say so.
