20 business prompts that name the assumptions first

Business answers from AI sound confident because the model quietly fills in the numbers you never gave it. These prompts make it work from your figures, say what it assumed, and flag what to check before you spend money.

Swap anything in [brackets] for your business, numbers or decision.

01. Write a one page business plan that names its assumptions

Before a bank meeting, a partner pitch, or your own go or no go.

Write a one page business plan for [business: what you sell, to whom, where].

What I know: [customers, prices, costs, team, money available]

Sections, in this order: the problem and who has it, what we sell, how customers find us, how we make money, the first 12 months, and what we need. Under 400 words.

Then list every assumption the plan depends on, one line each, marked KNOWN (I gave you the number) or GUESS (you filled it in). Put the three riskiest guesses first and say how I could test each one this month.

02. Pressure test an idea before you spend on it

You are excited about an idea and about to put money in.

I am thinking about [idea], which would cost about [money and time] to start.

Argue against it as a skeptical investor who has seen this fail before. Give me the five most likely reasons it fails, most likely first. For each one, name the cheapest test I could run in two weeks to find out, and the result that would tell me to stop.

Do not soften it and do not end with encouragement. If you need a fact about my market to judge it, ask me instead of assuming.

03. Set a price from your costs and your competitors

Pricing something new, or wondering if you charge too little.

Help me decide what to charge for [product or service].

My cost per unit or per job: [materials, labor hours and rate, delivery, fees]
Overheads per month: [rent, software, insurance, salaries]
Competitor prices: [who charges what, and what they include]
Who buys it and why they choose us: [notes]

Work out my break even price first and show the math. Then give three price options (low, middle, premium) with the margin on each and the type of customer each one attracts. Recommend one and say what would make you change your mind.

Mark any number you had to assume.
